Bosch Tuning dongles arrived today - 50kph cut off..

At the end of the day, it would assist to 50kph but assistance will feel minimal. You'd have to pedal very hard to cruise at this sort of speed. I fitted the dongle just to get over the power drop off just as I was gettting up to speed. Cut in and out all the time due to 15-20 mph being my...

Bosch Tuning dongles arrived today - 50kph cut off..

Its a non Bosch item and you have to electrically connect into the Bosch harness. Now you may or may not short something out or have the power while doing this. Potentially blowing something up. Bosch knowing this would be unlikely to warrant an electrical fault in the knowledge that you had...

    2013 Bosch Motored E-bikes

You are not going to damage the motor on a KTM. It only protrudes 2-3 cm beneath the chainwheel. If on the rare chance that you should drop it on a rock, the motor casing could be replaced or repaired. With an inverted motor, it would be the frame wrecked. How much to replace this? At...

Getting fitter and buying the right bike

12 miles, pretty much flat but can be very windy. 5 minutes to negotiate some locks. 3 miles of shared pathways at slower pace, 10-15 mph. Typical time, 40-45 min. I do however pedal fairly hard most of the way.

    Bosch Lighting Connection Whereabouts?

That is a nice looking light. I think charging or powering any light from the bosch usb port would be fine until it rains. I shall get the bosch lighting cables. One option may be to fit a 5v regulator to the front one and then a waterproof usb socket. I'll give it some thought and post my...

Getting fitter and buying the right bike

Alex, most interesting. I am commuting 25mile return trip 5 or 6 days a week on bosch pedelec. My brain seems to think that each trip should be a training and not leisure ride. I am finding that I need around 1000 calories per day extra in order to keep my weight from dropping. Wish I...

    Speed Pedelecs

The "wheel bearings" was my little joke. Why a scooter or a motorbike? I think the best solution for safety all round would be to invest in a decent "S" class bike and a large volvo estate. Stick the "S" class in the boot and you are on your way. Safe as houses and you won't even have...

    Bosch Lighting Connection Whereabouts?

Not so keen on dynamo lighting. Currently using a couple of rear led unit. Front LED lamp run off remote Lion battery. I'll have to get soldering with some regulators in order to end up with the required voltage but these are only pennies from RS or Maplins. Just trying to cut down on...

    Bosch Lighting Connection Whereabouts?

Thanks, well how foolish of me to think that there would be a an accessible socket. Plug in the lights and switch them on. Most intersted in the cables. I have a KTM Macina 29, assume I should be able to find the hidden wires? I thinks you are only about 50 mile away. I am in Brighton most...

    Speed Pedelecs

Matter of opinion. Try a 30 mile commute and see how you get on at 15mph. If you're getting the wobbles, I'd have a look at your wheel bearings.

    Speed Pedelecs

I'd like to see "S" versions 28mph versions legally available throughout Europe, not just selective countries. However, in this modern age, would a 20mph limit be a more sensible compromise? We need to be careful that we do not end up in the same situations as car owners, speed cameras and...

    Bosch Lighting Connection Whereabouts?

Can anyone tell me where the 6v output for lighting connection is on the latest Bosch system. Says in the manual that there is one and also the button on the so called human interface suggests that the output/s can be switched on. I have looked in the obvious places but cannot see it.

    Bosh Dongle

Hugh, ordered from here. http:///www.maintronic.de/en/products/sx2-tuning-dongle.html I suspect it is the same dongle as yours. I had an email reply back from the suppliers. Apparently moving the magnet towards the outside of the rim will change the speed at which it cuts in. Odd but it...

    The Younger Generation and E-Bikes

It is not just the youngsters that enquire about speed, most ages do. Myself being at the age of 50 would prefer almost everything I own to go faster and that includes body. In this modern age, eveything is about speed and efficiency so is it any wonder that everyone wants to go fast...

    What is it with lycra?

Wissy, I am no doctor but you may be anorexic like Joe Brand, in her own words, she looks in the mirror and sees a fat person. Chances are that your larger than it used to be is perfectly fine. I use lycra legging but complement with longish cycle shorts. Very warm and comfortable. If it...

    The Younger Generation and E-Bikes

You are quite right, fascinated to see what the power an speed feels like. What they did not do was write off the use these bikes down lazy of disabled people only. They could see the real world application for regular people. The point is, that these are people who work in a bike shop. Not...

    Bosh Dongle

Hugh, many thanks. Only two wires to deal with. Normally brown and white. Instructions to connect these is straight forward. Problem, is my two dongle wires are red. One red with a black line. I've not seen any instructions for red wire connection. I guessed that the black line went to...
