    Brexit, for once some facts.

What was not made clear was whether the cost of fuel was supposed to be within the 30p. Also, there is a considerable difference between one person making one meal for 30p and being able to combine multiple 30 pences as a meal for four, or four meals for one (or whatever). It is extremely...

Nor Wales, nor Northern Ireland. Nor those over 60, with any of a list of conditions, under 18, etc. I am at least triply exempt!

To get to the reference intake of calories alone you'd need more than that 5-pack. So you'd bust the budget. And, as flecc wrote, they are grossly unbalanced as a significant, major or even sole source of food. And Lee Anderson conveniently avoided the cost of the hot water to make them edible.

Who will this help? Prescription charges frozen to help with cost of living crisis, Sajid Javid says Move will save total of £17m, says health secretary, as Labour and head of TUC say windfall tax needed to tackle issue If you can afford £9-35, you could probably afford £9-70 or whatever the...

We always knew he was a terribly lazy person. Having worked from home, I found that I'd put in full hours and not take even the breaks to which I was entitled. Suspect Johnson should now be banned from Chequers. Or should he be banished there to prevent him doing any more damage? Boris Johnson...

Mind, HMQ never made the speeches sound in the least interesting or inspiring. But I agree his voice was more weary than hers.

Quite some hack: This morning the online Russian TV schedule page was hacked The name of every programme was changed to "On your hands is the blood of thousands of Ukrainians and their hundreds of murdered children. TV and the authorities are lying. No to war"

I don't know what they call it, but where you grab a device from a rack using your Clubcard (I think). Then scan as you fill your trolley. (Can you scan with your mobile phone? Seems an entirely reasonable possibility.) That is what I meant as the scanner area. If we are at the far end of the...

I find that is different to my local Tesco - which is huge. The scanner area is often almost deserted. (The pile of baskets from the self-scan checkouts is only easily accessible from the scanner checkout area. I quite often have to go there to get a basket.) We can have a queue for...

Aldi and Lidl both have plastic baskets - and neither has a self-service nor a way of adding items as you go round the shop. n Or, rather, if they have any baskets available, they are plastic! Only Lidl does the trundle baskets - which I hate. All that bending and the way people can not notice...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Is there a cunning plan in place? Recently, supermarkets seem to have run out of baskets! Lidl only recently re-introduced hand baskets having gone for trundle-baskets with wheels. But there seem to be none available even at the tills. The bottom-basket-and-wheels which are the bottom of the...

So, Johnson, you are going to slash red tape. Just remind us, how did that go for Cameron? And the residents of Grenfell? After more than a decade of tory government, how come there is any red tape left? Surely, if you (the tories) had fulfilled your promises, there would by now be almost...

My torch wasn't for cycling! But for general purpose use such as walking and trying to find where the cat has gone.

It was simply because I wanted a torch with decent life and brightness and acceptably small and light. Eventually got one with 21700 and USB-C rechargeable (for convenience). And a claimed 2200 lumens. By heck! It is bright. And, at a lower level but still pretty blinding, last quite well.

Of the actual battery - the seller, the importer, whoever else. They are dangerous things if they go wrong. I spent ages not buying things with 18650, 21700 or whatever. Simply because I couldn't actually persuade myself that the products were safe enough.

I'd like to see something done regarding genuinely spontaneous battery fires. You could imagine a mandatory insurance being required which might incentivise sellers to reduce the danger. Obviously, people buying from overseas make that difficult but leaving things as they are is unacceptable.
