    Whatever is in your mind is your reason or justification. But the national parties will consider your vote an endorsement of them and their policies. At least to claim even if they don't believe it deep, deep down.

    We can't NOT use our local vote in that way! The government would have taken a high vote for tory councillors as endorsement of them as the national government. If the local vote were truly separated (and I have no idea how to do so), then your argument makes some sense.
