I second that, in the long run a kalkhoff well worth the money

    Dahon Jetstream conversion

farting nora that's brave, I'd have loved to see the test run with the unsuspecting trolly finding itself doing 30 mph on a potholed street...thanks for the detailed write up, it helps loads with my work in progress

    Kalkhoff Battery issue

in my experience battery range claims are always wildly overambitious (if I had a pedelec that actually gave 122kms I'd be astonished )

    48V battery

many thanks for the helpful info, all is gradually becoming clear (30C meaning 30 times 8 meaning 240A or about 500 watt at 22.2V - but apparently the battery will last more charge cycles if one discharges at lower rates - say 20C?). is there any way to use the controller to set cut off voltage...

I'm beginning to hate (some) cyclists

here's a strange strategy that works for me - look rough, when I look particularly rough (I mean half a beard boots and hangover rough with the desolate air of a recent divorcee) I don't get any abuse at all, whereas when I look chuffed and happy its quite the opposite

    48V battery

many thanks, I got two of these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__20647__zippy_flightmax_8000mah_6s1p_30c_usa_warehouse_.html do you think they'd be any good in series? high chool physics is along time ago, when batteries are in series what is capacity (i.e. at 44V will it be 8 or 16...

E Voyager Electric Mountain Bike Drag

many thanks for the helpful reply (it clarifies lots), since batteries have shunts too I guess it couldn't do any harm?

E Voyager Electric Mountain Bike Drag

could any of you define what a shunt is and does (and how the soldering helps)? many thanks

    Front suspension forks.

if it were me, i'd try first to get the fattest schwalbe big apples that would fit (astonishingly low rolling resistance and pretty good bumpsoaking) and a cheap suspension seatpost (you'll need them later anyway)

    48V battery

dear all, sorry for one further noob question, I've installed a bpm code 10 (in a 20 wheel) in a hase tagun (changed my mind back from a full mountainbike because the bpm came in a 20 wheel and the hase was lying around gathering dust with its two OK mechanical disks and all, and just seemed so...

    Brompton E bike 2014?

had visions of a few hours of whacking a bpm on a stokemonkey bracket with a right crankarm...that's beginning to look like structural welding and much more complicated. I also wonder how I'd feel about a chain humming away powerfully somewhere between my legs..

    Brompton E bike 2014?

I've had fantasies about something like that

Whick Kalkhoff would you guys pick - £2k budget ?

oh dear, it does sound as if you're hoping it doesn't work and imagine that will somehow amount to an experience of failure? attitude may be what its about for you. not for me, I'm interested in learning and experimenting. That's very different from feigning an interest in something as part of...

Whick Kalkhoff would you guys pick - £2k budget ?

he does weigh 150kg, I'm not about to disagree with any of the other "nuggets" you've written because life is short and I'm too happy that I don't have to push Chinese crap here for a living

Whick Kalkhoff would you guys pick - £2k budget ?

er, yes, astroturfing aside, I'm sure you recognise that a crank drive of the same power exerts exactly the same torque on a bicycle wheel (and, very probably, more given that it works through the bicycle's gears)? I dont think anyone need to be inhibited from building their own pedelec (or...

Whick Kalkhoff would you guys pick - £2k budget ?

clearly youre familiar with MTB's - if youre feeling brave one entirely reasonable alternative is to pick up a decent dual suspension MTB for say 4 or 5 hundred quid and put a BPM hub motor with say a 36V 30A battery and controller on it - that should give youendeavour type performance, quality...

    bafang bpm code 10

many thanks, happily BMS have messed up the order a bit and is sending some stuff they didn't include...many thanks for all the advice, I'm going to build it, test it and take it from there

Whick Kalkhoff would you guys pick - £2k budget ?

IMHO 15 mph is toooo slooooow (I have a tasman), 20 to 25 mph is perfect, i'd go for the endeavour for sure
