As I posted not more than hours or a day or so ago, medicines now appear to be a developing disaster zone. Possibly. Who knows? UK pharmacies in dark about ministers’ plan to maintain drug supplies Chemists wait for details of measures to ensure driver shortages do not adversely affect...

Just starting to hear of delays in delivery of medicines. For example, none on Thursday - hopefully will arrive Monday. As a very common medicine, it would normally be expected to be permanently in stock. Back in the 1970s, companies such as Vestric used to pride themselves in delivering to...

A few days ago, before any queuing, I had filled both the cars I drive. Very glad I did. And it was only my usual approach of making sure they remain reasonably full at all times - not panic buying.

Somewhat concerning it appears there are ministers who would be happy to continue with this disaster.

Very early (last year) there were suggestions that three of the same might not be such a good idea. Listened to a radio progam earlier today which appeared to suggest that the origins of Covid-19 might indeed be bats - from evidence of coronaviruses in bats in Laos...

I think I briefly saw something. It is plain ridiculous to insist he will not do so, allow all the damage that has already occurred (and there must be more to come), then cave in. And absolutely 100% typical. Not quite sure where to put it on the ever-extending Johnson ineptitude scale. Went...

Any truth in the rumour that Brazilian turkeys have no feathers. Except for a strip...? If Johnson really is asking Bolsonaro for turkeys, the poultry industry might be extremely unhappy.

Tesco in Pembroke Dock now has the VW chargers they have been advertising. And I think they are being installed right now in our local branch. So I agree. And EVs do reduce the need for HGV fuel tanker drivers. The world is inexorably charging. :-)

Two fuel observations: First: Until recently, I think every single petrol forecourt in the area priced their fuel ending in .99 - e.g. 134.9. (The exception is Asda.) In the past few weeks, I think most now price ending .7. (A few, such as Tesco, do still end .9) Second: BP ain't got enough...

Well - I was thinking about things like fifth deliveries in very busy areas but was including all multiple deliveries. Yes - online (of all sorts) has had a profound impact but so much had deteriorated well before the first email was sent.

I wrote to mean that the characters assume it will happen. Quite possibly based on sound experience. It certainly was the case in a number of towns as well as cities - not sure how many but I certainly remember second deliveries (in a small city, no more than a reasonable sized town). I agree...

Test and Trace and Trace Someone I know has been having serious hospital treatment. Due to go in again the other day, he had another Covid-19 test. Two or three days later, he went in and had the treatment, then came home. The day after, he got a call from T&T saying his Covid-19 test had...

Round here, they are usually pretty good - helps being near a depot. But I keep reading or listening to Victorian/Edwardian books - Wilkie Collins, Conan Doyle, etc. - and the assumption that letters are delivered same or next day, with multiple daily deliveries, occurs throughout, and not...
