Fine tuning BBS02 750w 25A by controller programming

Probably the first one if you want to give the battery an easier time, as the max amps drawn will always be limited to 18 amps (864 watts). Whereas the second setting can peak at 1200 watts, then settles down to 720 watts. I'm still using the settings from my first post, but I rarely go greater...

Cheesy name, but these actually might come in handy!

I could have done with a pair of these buggers on many occasions, especially working on cars lol Neji-saurus screw removal pliers

Fine tuning BBS02 750w 25A by controller programming

Always eager to prove my own theories, I programmed the controller back to its original 'Keep Current' setting of 60%, plus 25A max. Without a rolling road test facility to load the rear wheel in a more scienftific and controlled way, I set out to test the bike on a local steep hill. I tested...

Fine tuning BBS02 750w 25A by controller programming

In my first post, I mentioned the 'Keep Current' parameter. I have a theory about this setting, as to why Bafang have set it to 60% on the 48v 750w 25A unit. As I said, I believe the 'Keep Current' parameter steps down the current, to a percentage of the PAS 'Limit Current' setting on the...

Fine tuning BBS02 750w 25A by controller programming

The original settings might work fine with a BBS01 250w, but too brutal on the BBS02 750w, as you discovered too Tony.

    Arduino, worth getting into?

    Nice comparison :D

    Attitudes to ebikes.

I remember those days well. I used to buy CB radios from jumble sales, but the hobby didn't last long, coz I couldn't afford a high amp regulated transformer and I ended up using a Scalextric transformer IIRC. The users at the other end used to complain that I sounded like a Dalek, so I gave it...

    Arduino, worth getting into?

Yeah, I realise that it'll probably only be making LED's flash and very simple stuff like that, but once I grasp the basics, then I can start designing more complex projects. Or do you mean Arduino is pretty limited full stop? I gots to know, coz Dave mentioned Picaxe, Genie and Raspberry Pi...

    Arduino, worth getting into?

I remember programming the Spectrum well. Spending many hours manipulating fingers on that ghastly rubber keyboard. Typing in the code from magazines bought with hard earned pocket money, only for it crash horribly when it was run lol.

    Arduino, worth getting into?

Now I've had a little play programming my BBS02 with the USB-Serial cable, I fancy getting into building some simple projects using an Arduino. I've come across quite a comprehensive looking starter kit on eBay: New SunFounder Lab Starter basic Kit for Arduino Beginner Nano Mega 2560 Uno R3...

Fine tuning BBS02 750w 25A by controller programming

I thought I would share some discoveries with my BBS02, USB-Serial cable and programming software. I won't give away who I bought my BBS02 from, as some companies like to keep certain info behind closed doors for whatever reason. I did try to obtain the original software parameters of the BBS02...

    Folding bead or wire bead?

Apart from weight and convenience of storage, are there any disadvantages of choosing a wired bead version over a folding bead version of the same tyre? The wired version can be a fair bit cheaper on some manufacturer's products.

    BBSxx programming cable info

Received my BBS02 programming cable from EMPowered Cycles yesterday, with a US-UK delivery time of 6 days door to door. That included a weekend and a UK bank holiday. Not bad service at all, and no import fees to pay as the cable is only £23.58 including delivery. FYI, the cable and software...
