    Ebike wheel wont stay on

Yes: 1 get a 250w hub motor 2 Make sure the dropouts are filed deep enough to take the motor axle and anti rotation washers. 3 Fit a substantial torque bracket - if not two. Here's a good one I've used, fits to mudguard or rack mount holes...

    Vintage rides

I have a Carrera Crossfire bought in 2015. It has an Ezee front hub kit origionally bought in 2014 and transferred from another bike. I use the battery rack that came with the kit, original cells replaced, by Jimmy, with Boston power cells. I also use a soft pack battery in parallel, also...

Elife brake cable has come out of brake lever

Your pics are blurred and I can't see properly. I suspect that the intermittant cut outs are caused by the red and lack wires touching. Insulate them from one another and should get rid of fault. Post some clearer pictures and we will be able to help with the cable.

Appointment to visit local recycling centre

The ones in Ceredigion have been closed or difficult to get into for a long time. As I cycle around I'm noticing an increase in stuff being dumped at the roadside and over hedge banks, seems to be all domestic stuff. I bought something called a Hippo Bag on line. Various sizes, comes flat pack...

    Ebike wheel wont stay on

You put what is basically a motor cycle motor into a bicycle frame and this is what happens. I don't know what current your battery is capable of delivering, but it is certain that the turning moment that the dropouts have been subject too are far higher than the frame was designed to stand up...

Is it possible to convert a ladies Dutch bike to electric

Probably the easiest is a front hub motor. Providing that that the forks are steel (test with a magnet) and the dropouts are 100mm there should be no issues with fitting. The front rack fixings may need a bit of filing though. A rear rack battery would be best, but you need to check that the...

    Envirobike

Think we're gonna need some more pics. Is that the battery mounting plate? Looks like it could be either a motor wire or a positive going to the controller. It looks like it's been cut, how'd that happen?

    S900 display handlebar mounts

Get creative with some Sugru. This is moldable glue, a bit like plastecine, but sets rock hard.

Help! What is the blue button???

It sounds like the motor control system is speed control. They do tend to be a bit sudden and will give full power up to a given speed. My advice, find yourself a nice straight, quiet path or country lane so you've got plenty of room. Tell yourself that there is going to be a kick when the...

Electric Bike for light touring - and Halfords

Hi Marnet, The bike in my avatar is a Carrera Crossfire. I put an Ezee front hub on it (probably too big and torquey for you) about 5 years ago. It has given me almost trouble free service for some 9k miles now. I have had a small issue with a brake connector, wired round it. The pas disc...

    Fastest ebike charge?

EV's carry far more sophisticated circuitry as weight is not such a problem. This means they can mitigate against the damage, that high charging currents can cause, in a way that bike batteries can't.

    Wooden bike

'Tis a thing of beauty. The joinery is sublime, even if achieved by cnc routing. The old gold coloured fittings are mouth watering. Don't think they'll ever be common, but good luck to him.

    Citroen Ami

Good grief that's ugly ! When I saw the word Citroen my mind immediately went to that design classic the DS, so this came as a real visual shock. Think they're going to have to re=skin it to get people into it.

    Help! Old Biker

Hi Iain and welcome. One thing you need to be aware of for consideration is the two different methods of pedal motion detection in order for the system to deliver power. E bikes are only allowed to give power assistance when the pedals are being turned - otherwise it's a moped ! One method of...

    Price impact of the "deal"?

From long life observation all governments/administrations caim to make things better. In reality mostly all they seem to manage is to make government itself bigger, more cumbersome and innefficient and so more tax hungry. The more an administration seeks to micro-manage the bigger the...

how drivers see you based on the clothes you wear.

Got mine from Halfords, can't find them at the mo. Basic pedal, some would say they're too small/too little grip, but I only ride tarmac (mostly) and they're fine. From the odd looks I get they certainly attract attention, no maintenance as they work from micro generators in the pedal.

    Price impact of the "deal"?

In the mid and late '70's I was a roadie working for various sized bands. When touring in Europe we had to have a thing called a Carnet. Each flight case on the truck had to be numbered or otherwise identified and have it's contents itemised. When exiting a country we would present two copies...

    Front suspension for my ebike

Putting suspension forks on a frame made for rigids will alter the geometry. It will kick the front end higher and so increase the steering rake, putting strain on the steering head and altering the handling. As an example, look at the bike with front suspension in the background of your photo...

    Hello from Aberdeen

It was, as you say, unbelievable. However no actual harm was done so a talking too is probably the best course. A near miss is still a miss, but the more that awareness of the distancing need to bikes is spread - the better. That said, I'm glad I don't have to ride busy roads like that as I...

    Hub motor power upgrade

Controllers and displays will only work when bought as matched pairs. Yhere mat well be some soldering needed between new controller and existing system.
