    Best ladies bike ?

with 2 lead acid bricks the currie will be heavy. If you have to carry the bike anywhere, especially up stairs or outside steps I'd definatley recommend a bike with nimh batteries. Better value for money aswell as lead batteries will die more quickly

    how do we help newcomers

to make things worse there's an awful lot of useless bikes being sold. I know of two people who've had really lowsy experiences, one with a with cheap bike bought from ebay. One of them bought a scooter type bike, gave it one uphill test run. (it didn't make it and wieghed a ton) and sent it...

Inside the Lafree Twist power unit

Thats good to know. I had my eye on a cheapish looking lafree on ebay (eBay.co.uk: Excellent Electric Bicycle - Bike Twist Comfort (item 330082809671 end time 06-Feb-07 12:22:19 GMT)) and was thinking of rebuilding it and making it more powerful. Perhaps not such a good base bike for the...

The power to make cycling make sense

Miles, According to this Electric bicycle laws - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia the US law motor rating is "750 watt average power". I presume that means a continuos not peak rating. I've also heard as much elsewhere.

The power to make cycling make sense

$64000 question. Is the Eurodirective a minimum specification and/or a maximum specification for member states. In otherwords is it possible for a member state, say us the UK, to bring in legislation to create a second class of high speed ebikes? I presume that this is posiible if the EU...

The power to make cycling make sense

Really nice to see people asking questions and writing letters. I think 25mph would be a fair top speed for a new "high speed" class of electric bike but I wonder if we shouldn't aim higher than 400 watts. I quite like the legislation they have in the states. This is a federal law...

    Batteries and cold weather (brrrr)

I charge my nimh batteries outside. So far i've noticed a rise in performance with this cold weather, this seems to fit with this faq http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/nickelmetalhydride_appman.pdf Which says optimum temperature is 10 Celsius, with capicity reducing droping when either...

Stop Press: New Currie Izip Bikes

Thats a great deal. They've been out the states for a while with many good reports. They use a brush gear Unite motor , simple technology. For some reason they sell for $300 in the states. Frustrating that stuff's so much more expensive here.

eZee Torq owners: What range are you getting from your battery?

True, But don't forget voltage sag from the internal resistance of the battery. I tried this recently with my currie system. Before i had one 24 volt 13AH pack now I have 2 24 volt 13AH packs in parallel. With the packs in parallel I have gained at extra 2 mph. The pack voltage now only...
