Will the Presteigne electric bike rally be happening this year?

Is this place in Wales North West of Hereford?? If so, I can't see a railway station within a charges ride of it. How about a few more details on it please. Sav.

Twist, Comfort & ST Replacement Charger

Well it's all done. Plug (L45AZ Lkg Line Plug 3-Way) arrived today from Maplins. Had to pad the thin Panasonic cable to get the cable clamp to grip, but it works, all credit to Flecc. Final cost from Powerstream as no duty was charged, £40 plus Maplins socket & postage £4. Well...

Twist, Comfort & ST Replacement Charger

Thanks for the offer Flecc, Its the Chinese instructions that are wrong, not yours which were very helpful. Re the plug, no its not an XLR (push fit) its a screw type. If the Maplin one doesnt match I'll order the female half as well, so no worry. The Panasonic charger has awfully thin...

Twist, Comfort & ST Replacement Charger

Minor problems, The charger comes with a three pin line socket and I can't source the corresponding plug locally, have ordered what I think it is from Maplins. Good job I played safe!!!! I got the voltmeter out and followed the pin-out on the charger diagram and got negative voltage...

Twist, Comfort & ST Replacement Charger

Flecc's charger has arrived from the States and has not attracted import tax this time. Total cost just under 80$ so about £40 including 'Air Parcel Post' which was the cheapest air option. Wonderful!! Just need to fit a Brit plug and get the other half of the adaptor on the DC output end...

    Where to get Batteries

Just an update. The Panasonic charger failed twice with the new cells so I've deciced to wait for the Flecc charger to arrive fom Yankeeland. Am not prepared to risk partial Panasonic charges with the new cellpack. Chris.

    Where to get Batteries

I'm still using the Panasonic charger until Flecc's replacement charger arrives. I decided the Batterspace charger was a poor choice as I did not spot it lacked a dischrge facilty. I just assumed 'Smart Charger' would do the business. Flecc's charger should guarantee a full charge, which I...

    Where to get Batteries

Heard from Batteryspace today. They have offered to supply the 10Ah cellpack with just the tags and thin enough shrinkwrap ready to go for the Giant cellpack replacement. If there is interest they will put a direct link on their site. If ordered in pairs they would cost approx £130 (each)...

Battery Connection probs on Giant Twist

Well how strange!!!! My Twist with my nice new cell pack died on me this morning as I arrived at work. No power whatsoever. Took the battery off and replaced it, still no power. Assumed it was my soldering had died and was about to disembowell the pack when I though of this thread. Gave...

    Where to get Batteries

Cellpack all done and dusted. Used it for the first time today and am pleasantly pleased at this early stage. Range has definitely increased significantly, though I don't know by how much yet. Unexpected result was that there appears more oomph in the motor than from my tired old battery...

    Where to get Batteries

Patient is now in recovery and appears that it will be 'discharged' shortly. Excellent instructions thank you Flecc, looked quite daunting to start with, but its not. One thing you could add is to replace the battery handle BEFORE you put the case back together!!! I'll PM the description...

    Where to get Batteries

Well I'm half way through the battery transplant operation and have stopped for a cuppa. One nice bright spark so far, but hopefully no damage done  I was hoping to simplify matters, but on examination of the Giant case, its obvious I have to follow Flecc's instructions to the letter...

    Where to get Batteries

By local Radio Shack I meant the font of all knowledge in the little specialist shop down the town near me. He's helped me before with advice. Re heavy duty diodes, they are effectively non return valves. If I connect two batteries together in parrallel they are unlikely to be in exactly the...

    Where to get Batteries

It actually finishes up nearer the Powabyke costing as there is a charger with it as well as mine is bowloxed. Charger was £20 plus a portion of the postage plus Customs jugular extaction, probably totals about £35 so £14½ per Ah for a more powerful battery. I can live with that and still have...

    Where to get Batteries

The good news is that I will have the Yank batteries tomorrow. The bad news is the customs bill, £33, some you win, some you lose!! I didn't expect it to be as high as that with a declared value of 150$ but the barstewards charge VAT on the postage as well. Bloody nerve when the postage is...

    Where to get Batteries

I have tonight ordered a 10Ah pack and charger for the Lafree from Batteryspace in the States. Total cost is £147 though they are looking at cheaper postage options (£50). There are restrictions on posting Li batteries over there and that is what the postage costs are based on. as this is a...

    Charger faulty?

My charger is one of the faulty Giant ones, though rather more out of date than yours. It had been left in a garage for two years since being six months old, Giant were completely unhelpful in my case, even though the charger was supplied faulty. I'm planning on buying the Yank battery...

    Drain Brain sourcing

Had a very apologetic email from the States. Strange Yank Electric bikes here!! This is where I was looking at the brain drain that I assume you are searching for. They say that the postage on the site is incorrect and should only be about 15$ HTH Chris

    Recommend a bike for touring

I haven't got the experience of these guys, but researched the subject thoroughly before buying recently. My need was similar to yours, no assistance on the flat, help on hills. The only answer was the Lafree Twist Comfort (pedelec). None of the hub motor bikes are equipped to climb hills as...

    Drain Brain sourcing

An interesting bit of kit!!! could be very useful for optimising range. Only found it in the States, but a word of warning, do not fill in any inquiry on the EV Tech site (108$ plus 102$ postage!!!), the spam started arrving BEFORE I had finished the inquiry!!! saying they had been given my...
