It's not just the batteries though, they want to legislate for kits too:

:D I was thinking more specifically about your thoughts on the proposed legislation.

"Brompton weighs in on better battery laws to clamp down on eBike fires "

This sensationalist BS from the Labour List website: A fully charged e-bike battery contains a similar amount of stored energy to six hand grenades. Lithium-ion batteries can cause particularly dangerous fires because they can take and hold far more energy than other battery types. This makes...

    Folding bikes

12 inch front wheel, the bike sounded like a creaking camp bed on each revolution of the crank...and felt just as sturdy! :D But yes, very light weight and the handlebars on it were amazing, gave you so much control.

    Folding bikes

The biggest complaint I would have about my folder, which is a Dahon clone, is the width of the handlebars. They are far to short and too straight, which does not give great control. Once I came off when I hit a pothole while indicating to turn left. It was in the dark and my pathetic front...

    Folding bikes

Speaking of tyre widths, I'm experimenting with Continental's eContact Plus tyres. They seem to have a low rolling resistance, and good comfort, although the actual width on the wheel seems to be 5 mm or so less than the advertised width. While I am running the 622 size, I see on their website...

EVs are heavier, SUVs have become commonplace and don't forget everyone is ordering online increasing van traffic. Only a few days left now to participate in the consultation on 500W motors and throttles.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

You could go for Big Ben Plus rather than Big Apple, has better puncture resistance. The Super Moto X are also a level 6 and go up to 70 mm wide, if you want a Fatbike Brompton :) https://www.schwalbetires.com/Super-Moto-X-11159531

    Bafang Rear Hub Motor Questions

20A at 48V should be plenty. You could go higher, but then you start straining the battery unless it is very big.

    Bafang Rear Hub Motor Questions

Yes, it's all a bit hand waving. Just whatever measure the company uses, the result is lower for the G010 than the G020 and the difference is noticeable in the real world.

Nice! An RM062. Should have plenty of beans in it for what you need.

Also, if it is G010 or G020 makes quite a difference. The G010 has a lot less torque.

Help! Ebike kit I can carry in airports and charge my Macbook

Might be worth talking to @StuartsProjects he has a Brompton with minimalist set up. We did talk a while back about Bosch power drill batteries. The smallest of these (2.6 Ah) would be airline compatible.
