    Urban Mover replacement battery

German eBay sells quite cheap Panasonic batteries. A lot cheaper than buying from a dealer here.

    E-bike prices

Sometimes the upmarket or exotic location suffers from association with a less upmarket brand. Not likely to be the case with an obscure - to the general public - e bike. But much more so with Vauxhall Cresta, or Ford Capri, or Cortina. Going to the latter on holiday must have lost its allure...

Where to try Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro 29er?

I wouldn’t say it was stupid to buy it without trying it but it would be preferable to try it. If you just wanted to know what a performance line Bosch motored e bike was like on a proper ride you now do. Cube are good bikes and I have a none powered one which is well made and specced...

Focus have launched there 2016 ebike range

Maybe. But I suspect it’s more a styling thing like practically everything else these days.

Focus have launched there 2016 ebike range

The long wheelbase makes for a stable comfortable longer ride through, and as long as you don’t try to throw it around it goes round corners fine. I like the WW 1 destroyer like long lean shape too. It’s a bit like a Brough Superior. Wouldn’t want to ride like TE Lawrence rode his though. He was...

Focus have launched there 2016 ebike range

I suppose in Derby Cycle’s case that’s no change since the current Impulse batteries are unique to the range and consequently very expensive. This new style could have worked well but this is too much style and not enough substance for me. Those little bends in the frame for instance. WTF are...

Focus have launched there 2016 ebike range

I’m not sure I like the Derby Cycles new battery styles. The neatly shaped batteries on the down tube are not particularly intrusive looking, and this semi integrated type just looks a bit naff to me. I suppose it might have benefits for weatherproofing though since it connects directly to the...

10-mile commute with hills, fairly fit cyclist

The Woosh system does have a lag when you start to pedal. I don’t remember it being a couple of seconds though, more like half a full crank turn. I had one for a short while and found that fast getaways could be done using the throttle and pedalling. So if you have a lag with the throttle too...

new member needing advice (based in exeter)

You really should try a couple of bikes to see how you get on and whether you prefer crank drive or hub drive, torque sensor etc. As you are a long time and presumably keen cyclist the chances are you will want a bike that rides like the bikes you were used to, but with help for the hills...

Thank you forum! & a few thoughts about buying an e-bike.

As I said before that was just an email reply from some clerk there. There was no judgment and no ruling by the ASA. Wander has also pointed that out further up this thread and it was stated on the other one too if I remember right. She got her money back by blackening the name of the dealer...

Thank you forum! & a few thoughts about buying an e-bike.

Some desk jockey there who replied to her email query told her that on the face of it the website seemed to imply what she claimed. Not exactly a ruling from the ASA was it? I don’t think there was any dodgy advert at all which if you actually read my posts is what I was writing on the other...

Thank you forum! & a few thoughts about buying an e-bike.

They didn’t publish misleading adverts. They put a slogan on a facsimile stamp on a small part of a page which she took advantage of knowing perfectly well that it did not mean what she claimed it did. But as I said I don’t want to go back over over ground already covered in boring detail. You...

How to use a chain wear indicator tool?

Yes it is correct and I’ve proved it by doing both over the years. I’ve had runarounds wear out the drivechain together when I didn’t care about them, and good road bikes with chains changed in good time to save the more expensive parts. Chains wear on the rollers and that’s why they seem to...

Now I have another folding bike!!!

It’s very difficult to fine a place which sells lots of different brands to compare. But it would probably be useful to any dealer making a suggestion if you said where you live.

Thank you forum! & a few thoughts about buying an e-bike.

I don’t remember seeing any posts where they have let people down lately. I had a warranty claim for a new £800 battery dealt with very professionally a few months ago. Without going into boring details which have been done to death on the other thread I fail to see what lesson they can learn...

How to use a chain wear indicator tool?

Certainly one way of doing it. It does mean you end up replacing all the drivechain as it will have all worn out together. More work than a simple chain swap, and more expensive too.

    Kudos Typhoon Problem

Give the shop a ring if you bought it from there. They should be your first port of call because they are who you have a contract with. If they are really ignoring you then name and shame here and I expect KudosDave will get involved. Sometimes emails don’t get answered very quickly, and...
