Help! Bosch 400Wh battery sudden death

Nothing good about these locked down systems that stop or make it very difficult for you to repair them. I have a Haibike with a Yamaha crank drive system that is tough and well made and I have had good usage out of. I bought it to open up the possibility of an off road commute to work, and for...

Not a great start with e-bikes. Chain continually jumps off the front sprocket.

I appreciate this particular horse has bolted, and depending on where you live it can be hard to achieve, but buying from a local dealer where you can easily take the bike back to if you get teething problems can be very helpful. I bought my Haibike Yamaha crank drive bike in 2015 from a...

Not a great start with e-bikes. Chain continually jumps off the front sprocket.

Always best to identify and sort out the underlying problem. I tight link in the chain, or badly set up derailleur. Hopefully the chain should be the right length but you would not want it too long. When you are sure its all set up properly a narrow wide chain ring is in my opinion much more...

    Trigger Bell

A vote from me for the tring tring traditional bike bell. Mine is from Halfords and cost a fiver and has actually lasted very well so far, several years and counting. Dirt cheap but works. As VFR said, pedestrians just seem to be much more attuned to the traditional tring tring sound. I have...

Not a great start with e-bikes. Chain continually jumps off the front sprocket.

Obviously finding the course would be the best thing to do. However my 2015 Haibike Sduro Yamaha hard tail mountain bike that came with a rudimentary chain guide would very occasionally drop the chain and then do so more often when the drive train was worn but stopped dropping the chain...

    Moustache Samedi 28.5

Those Moustache bikes look good and you should have great fun on them. I only posted about your cable locks because I would not want you to have either of your lovely bikes nicked and although cable locks look good, generally the cables can be cut really easily.

    Moustache Samedi 28.5

With two nice new bikes I would not rely on a cable lock. I know they are heavy but a good ulock is what I use. A longer style rather than the short ones so that you have a chance to secure to something.

Help! Cheap batteries ali express etc

I bought one of these for my 2011 Oxygen Emate. I am heavy and on full assist 15 miles is about as far as it would go, but I bought it nearly three years ago, it came with a charger and is still working very well. However I paid about £185 when I bought mine, but everything goes up. As...

    Yamaha Battery/Charger Problem

Hi all with Yamaha battery/charger connector problems. Update on how mine are doing now almost three years post repair. I started this thread to document a potential disaster when a small metal pin connector at the battery where the charger plugs in broke, and meant I could not charge the...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

13,144 Mile 6 Year Update continued Battery: Cutmill pond that I pass on my ride to work in June 2020 When I first bought this bike my concern was the cost of replacing the battery when it wore out as they were very expensive. However I am still using the original 400Wh battery at the end of...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

13,144 Mile 6 Year Update A leisure ride I did in April 2020 in lock down Gosh another year of cycle commuting completed. I have to say that I have had as much fun riding my bike cross country to work and back home again on the road this year as any. I guess we have all had a strange...

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

The Haibikes 6th Birthday imminently approaches....... I rode The Haibike to work today and that will probably be my last ride before I head into the beginning of my 7th year of ownership. A very nice blustery windy mostly sunny ride. If that was my last ride, I have ridden 1,326 miles to...

The tale of a £100 second hand electric bike.

Road to work off road again today, and using my new method of riding effectively in a circle so that the whole bike is on the pad does trigger the gates.

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

Getting more miles out of my cassette..... My Haibike does 14 miles to work cross country getting my transmission dirty, and then I ride 10 miles home on the road. My faster ride home using higher assist levels with a dirty chain and cassette a lot of the time in my highest gear 9 that has 12...

Beat Bike Toba Crossbar (Bike Log)

Although it will not probably be lighter, an older simple rear hub motored ebike with a simple cadence system and unrestricted throttle could be ideal. I bought a second hand Oxygen emate of circa 2011 vintage from the classified section of pedelecs very cheaply and have been amazed how good...

    Long commute question

I agree WheezyRider and am lucky enough to be able to charge at work. The Haibike despite only having a 400Wh 6 year old battery can quite easily still complete the 24 mile round trip if required, but as I can charge my battery at work I do so and top it back to full before my ride home. The...

    Long commute question

I agree vfr, commuting to work and back is different to leisure riding. I have days, a few more of those as I get nearer to 60, that I do not want to work as hard riding home as I once did, and have started turning the assist level up on The Haibike, something I have only done very recently, and...

    Long commute question

I had asthma as a child and never realised it! I was a keen sportsman, playing in most of the school teams and naturally a quick runner winning the School Town (Basingstoke) trails 100m race for a couple of years on the trot and then running in the Hampshire County Trails at Southampton in the...

    Long commute question

I ride either a 20 mile on road round trip commute to work and back on my old 2011 Oxygen second hand Emate rear hub cadence road bike that came with rudimentary lights, mudguards and a rear rack, or a 24 mile round trip on my Haibike Yamaha crank drive hard tail mountain bike, where the 14...

The tale of a £100 second hand electric bike.

Well I have to say I approached the weight sensor on my ride to work today with some trepidation. I rode onto it at an angle that allowed the whole bike to bear down. there was a satisfying audible click and the gates swung open. Unfortunately I passed a sour faced old bloke who I am sure is a...
