It was Bournemouth and the surroundings I was speaking of, mainly in the early 50s though. Definitely no attitude, my approach just like yours, pulling over, being polite and hoping for the best, but that never came. Similar police behaviour was very common with the Met Police in the 1960s...

The Assad regime has always been as legitimate as any other of the Arab countries. They have different ways of administering a country, which, though we might dislike them, are still legitimate since we are not the arbiters of such matters. Nor can we be, since it wasn't so long ago that we...

While I recorded an Agree with your post overall, there is a lot of ignoring going on. As my best friend here, a Met police officer said when I asked him how he was dealing with the Covid regulations, "Nothing to do with me" he said, laughing, making it clear he was completely ignoring them...

No, that's not even a remotely accurate analogy. Integral to what I decribed was that Putin has been driven to his desperate measures on his borders by the successive US actions creating an impossible situation. And Russia's major assistance to the lawful government of Syria was against the...

I've previously explained this more than once and at length. In brief: The Duma desiring peace and an end to the cold war appointed known moderate dove Gorbachov as President, due to knowing his long arguing for this course. Gorbachov set this in motion by a gradual transition to avoid the...

    Throttles

Further to the above, it appears some Bosch units can be programmed to only assist to 18 kph (11 mph). This is via a double dongle using one cable set. One dongle doubles the assist to 50kph, the other cuts assist to 18kph. Information on this link .

    Throttles

There's an oddity in EU law on the S class high speed pedelecs. They can reach 20kph (12mph) legally in the walk assist mode. Since nobody is going to be walking at that speed, using it inevitably means riding on throttle only to that maximum, then continuing pedelec mode to the maximum assist...

We need to get them out of office ASAP. I'd even rather have Cameron and Osborne back, at least they exercised fiscal restraint. .

Ironic isn't it, they said it was Corbyn who would wreck the country by borrowing for expansion. Yet another of his policies they've adopted. .

Just as the UK were keen to leave the EU's intended single country of Europe in 2016. Just like Britain with its Empire, though that brutally went on for centuries, not just a few decades. Isn't it amazing how short and convenient memories are? .

Like the USA then? Responsible for far more war with other countries and their associated misery since WW2 than either the USSR or Russia. And not just in their own backyard but worldwide. But of course you are blinkered to that. .

I don't think it is all that difficult, but once again parliament is to blame. Police officers used to be completely used to doing the paperwork to bring a charge, but the advent of fixed penalties with a simple roadside form a while ago has made them lazy. Now anything more than that is too...

"Could" being like all the other things we could have done in the last 70 years. But we didn't, simply because we lack the enterprise, enthusiasm and will to make the effort. Talking about them is usually as far as we get. Examples being The Northern Powerhouse. HS2 connecting Edinbugh...

Not surprising when the government unwisely permits the hire of 500 watt powered scooters, leaving the door wide open for all manner of associated illegality. They've opened Pandora's box and I can't see how they are going to close it again, now there are hundreds of thousands of illegal two...

It's simply lack of adequate road space. Cycling in Britain all but died between 1960 and 1990 so drivers had it all their own way for decades, owning the roads. They are having a problem adjusting to the new reality, this sort of change doesn't happen overnight, so I see years of friction...
