Switching the 350w BPM motor on my Big Bear for a 500w one

John the kits are fairly simple. If you get the stuff from one place it should all work. A front motor over 350watts can be dangerous, they can come out or split the forks, not something you want with your son onboard. D8veh has helped lots of people upgrade the bike. You just have to do as he...

Switching the 350w BPM motor on my Big Bear for a 500w one

Don't worry about the 500 being legal, your 350watt one was illegal anyway.

    Training for E-bike mechanic

Hmmm. General cycle maintenance is simple. Time to make a few bikes start by simple kits, hub and crank offer to help build them for others. Then fixing bikes. A wanted bust bikes for fixing, offers to fix them. You can soon learn and build a reputation, hopefully a good one.

    Will e-bikes get cheaper?

Battery prices have fallen and continue to fall in dollars. The pound however is stuffed so buying a 100 dollar battery used to cost £60 is now nearer £90 and could well cost over £100 soon.

    E-bike & battery life span?

    E-bike & battery life span?

Ah the bike is 15 the BBS kit is six months and 1070 miles then I got a controller/display problem:( pedalling without power until I fix it. The Panasonic crank drives easily did 5 years.

    E-bike & battery life span?

My current bike is about 15 years old. The three before we're all over 3 years old and it was upgrade and 4*4 damage that made me move on not the bikes failing. But in over 3,000 miles I have replaced the chain twice, brake pads once, changed to rear gear hub and tyres once After a few punctures.

    E-bike & battery life span?

Barring accidents your 1000 miles a year is nothing significant. The bike will need basic maintenance oiling and brake adjustment, perhaps replacing the odd part and you should expect 3 to 10 years of fairly trouble free riding.

    New Gtech ebike

SW uses a lot of power but he mountain bikes. Often over 20 mph. Your wife we assume will be sedate at 10 mph. That means the bike will always be assisting. So steady battery drain. Not as dramatic as SW,s but range limiting. The power to weight ratio is for the bike and rider together so if...

    looking to buy first ebike

my bike and battery 36v 16ah. I can get over 160 km :D Without power I average 14+ mph add the electric assist and I only go 2-3 mph faster on average. You need to say how fast you normaly cycle as time over 15 mph is based on you not the battery.

Old chap looking for e-bike that looks nice and handles like a proper bike

The closest to natural feel might be a racer with a lightweight front hub motor, torque sensing crank and rear hub gears. That will give you a natural feel just with younger legs. Ramp the assist up or down to match your needs. The shimano or bosh crank drives can also give a natural feel but...
