If you find a hub geared bike then crank drive is an option. One of the things about slow charge rate is it reduces the stress on the batteries so they last longer.

There are very different grades/types of SLA but running them down low is a life shortening experience for them. Lithium tends to have most of its AH avalable without significant affect on its lifespan but SLA can easily develop a number of life limiting changes even after one deep discharge...
