    Which eMTB for ~£4k?

For £4k I'd have said the world's your lobster, but you need to have a good look around the internet and certainly try as many as you are able to before you commit. Three years ago I was really surprised to find the bike I had my heart set on was not to my liking at all once I got on it. Have...

    W011 woes

Diagnostics completed, no faults found and unable to replicate (bike could be VAG!). Firmware updated. Bike's completely back to normal. Must've been sulking about something - maybe my drooling over an R&M Supercharger HS  Gaz

    W011 woes

Thanks Chaps :) I'd checked the spoke magnet, and sensor (sans dongle), but to no avail. Resigned to the ignominy of riding it to work without power, and then to the bike shop, I noticed it was registering speed and didn't trigger a W011, so I powered it up. And it of course behaved...

    W011 woes

My bike has let me down for the first time in the best part of three years yesterday. W011 (Shimano E6010 - can't detect travel speed) came up out of the blue and won't leave me alone. Six miles without any power was good exercise. Thought it might have been the dongle, but it's still doing...

    £2000 Hybrid (or under)

I'm 6'4" and the same weight as you. Have done over 4,000 miles in the last three years on my Whyte Coniston, and would thoroughly recommend one. It's no mountain bike, but is excellent as a commuter and on compacted surface paths. A very comfortable and easy bike to live with. Haven't found...

A random thread for things too unimportant for their own thread...

I live about a quarter of a mile from the equatorial end of the Cuckoo trail, so know it well. While it's a great trail, I tend to avoid it these days as I object to the amount of human bipeds on it. And the dogs with their bike garrotting leads. I quite like it when it's dark.... and...

A random thread for things too unimportant for their own thread...

I love the area Eddie. My Wife's Mum's ashes were scattered not far from Kingstanding, so it's a place we like to go to reflect. Didn't know cycling was permitted, not that it matters as it's a bit too far for me. I've got as far as Uckfield, from Eastbourne, but the A22's a bloody horrible...

Help! Very New to this sort of biking

No such thing as a silly question. Like Pete, I cycle year round. Reflective stuff (and good lights!) in the darker months is important in my opinion. I have a mixed bag of stuff that suits me, and I wouldn't get caught up with it having to be cycling related. After far too long I have eaten...

Aren't our brains a big pile of fatty electric mush anyway :D I went to ebikes direct at Bodiam. Tucked away at the back, but I thought they were an alright bunch. Perhaps just ask them which is the better one for you then. I'm sure they'll help inform your choice. Gaz

All bikes are built to a price point. Getting a bigger Ah battery doesn't (necessarily) mean you're getting a better value bike. Perhaps do some rummaging as to the bikes components and maybe some reviews to satisfy yourself which offers the better value. Gaz

^^What Eagle said!^^ There's a big difference in battery between the two you're considering. For what it's worth, my Whyte Coniston is a 10Ah battery. I regularly ride up over Beachy Head, around and back, so a fair bit of hill work. I've not felt that my battery is lacking in oomph at all...

    Dazed and Confused, Brighton..

My Wife has an eight year old Wisper 705SE, and while the battery's not exactly in it's first flush of youth, I'd trust it to handle any of Brighton's hills, even with me on it (16st, 6'4"). Cost us £300 second hand on here. Welcome to try it out if you'd like. There's also an e-bike shop...

Help between Wisper 905 Torque Mk II and Oxygen S-Cross MTB ...

I'm 6'4" and can ride my Wife's 705SE quite comfortably. It's at least eight years old now, on it's original battery and will still do 20+ miles on a charge. A 905 Torque was no.1 on my list as a first time buyer three years ago. Gaz
