why is this even up for debate?

I have family in Denmark, drivers there they are very alert to any cyclists near junctions. As it was explained to me, in a collision between a car and cyclist the car driver is assumed to be guilty regardless of the actions (or lack of) by the cyclist. Cyclists crossing junctions without...

    Fiido D4 or D4s

Check how many gears they have. I looked at Fido 2 years ago, the xxS had gears, no S was the single speed model. Let us know :D

do expensive sunglasses make any difference to cheap ones.

I wear sunglasses most of the time: Stops dust etc. My eyes are sensitive to bright light I prefer good quality lenses, no need to be expensive - my backup pair are bolle tinted safety specs from screwbfix for £10. My priority is no distortion, some cheap lenses just feel “wrong”.

    MXUS xf07 270rmp general discussion & info

I have the LCD4 and like it a lot, it gives me P,C, and the "other" menu (extended C ?), nice and compact. The only downside is it has no display to show the current being taken by the motor, I think only the larger diplays (LCD3 etc?) show the current.

    MXUS xf07 270rmp general discussion & info

Hi, I'm interested to know what you think about the XF07 when you start to use it, I have been looking at getting a XF08 (rear) to upgrade my Yose / KT kit. How does it compare power / torque etc, and is it plug-n-play compatible with Yose / KT kit? ( I know I'll need to use an extension as the...

converting to non suspension front forks

Discussions in the past say you can expect problems with geometry, suspension forks raise the front of the bike - if you replace with fixed forks the front of the bike will be lower. I fitted a set of £25 Suntrour suspension forks last year and they're been fine on my town bike, you might find...

Can anyone see from this video why the back wheel is doing this? Tar

Hi. The clutch is a round disk with 3 planet gears mounted on it. The central "core" of the clutch should rotate freely when turned in one direction and lock up when turned in the other direction. For a (very !) exploded view of a typical clutch see post #2 and post #6 on my build thread...

cycle with or against the traffic when using a cycle lane?

I aways cycle with the traffic as that's the direction other road users should be looking. When walking I go against the traffic so I can see anything well before it reaches me, from Highway code rule 2 for pedestrians : "If there is no pavement, keep to the right-hand side of the road so that...

Drunk e-scooter rider on Cheltenham hen do banned from driving after weaving in and out of traffic

Thanks @georgehenry it's an interesting article that covers all the questions I had. A shame all the answers are vague maybe / could / might... Extract from the article : “it is true that you can’t have your driving licence endorsed with penalty points because of an offence committed on a...

Drunk e-scooter rider on Cheltenham hen do banned from driving after weaving in and out of traffic

I don't own an E-scooter and have no plans to get one but I thought they were in the same class as legal 250w E-bikes, ie no licence or insurance required, no drink-drive limits. I'm surprised the courts see it differently and banned the rider for 18 months. To avoid confusion, I'm not...

Stripping a battery to test it

Thanks gents, I've opened up the Fish battery, I get readings for 10 cell groups, all voltages are similar and in range 4.04 - 4.05 giving total 40.5 Fish bms : I have 2 chargers here (1 known good from my bike, 1 that came with the 2 "problem" batteries), will try a few more charge cycles...

Stripping a battery to test it

@Andy-Mat i didn’t explain it too well, I’m not planning to replace any cells, I’d like to check if all groups are failing it if there’s one group out of balance - that I can maybe charge directly so it’s nearer balanced. @Nealh many thanks as always. After full charge and resting for an hour...

Stripping a battery to test it

Hi folks, I have a couple of 36v batteries which are not performing well. I’ve seen a few threads on testing each cell group to see if it’s one cell or group that’s the problem. I’m happy stripping the battery and testing it. My question is how do I re-wrap it if / when I’ve fixed the problem...

    Want a rear motor wheel only, 36V, 250W, 26"

I'm nearing retirement and have been riding bikes since I was a kid, last year was the first time I've had to build my own wheel (new electric hub, decent rim, custom spokes), it took some time but it worked out fine. I've built 3 more wheels since (changing rim sizes on electric wheels I had...

Help! Shipping an Ebike/ Taking it on holiday (2) - Pile in

A friend visited Portugal recently to follow to road race cycle route, she had good expereinces hiring a road bike for a few days, moving to a different town, and hiring again at the new place. A lot cheaper than shipping your bikes from the UK, and zero chance of customs fees to pay / import &...

Lithium-ion blaze aboard ship - specialist crews en route

Cargo is electric cars not E-bikes but it's a harsh example of what can go wrong when you have a lot of high capacity batteries in one place. Scary stuff https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/cargo-ship-carrying-cars-us-catches-fire-adrift-atlantic-crew-rcna16675

    Cyclists avoiding cycle lanes

Cramlington New Town (Northumberland) was designed with dedicated cycle tracks away from the roads, this allows quick direct access for cyclists. The downside is the tracks were put down decades ago, many are now needing repair or have been repaired badly, others have uneven surfaces. They are...

    Dumb pedestrian

About 3 years ago I crashed my car into a ditch and wrote it off when taking evasive action to avoid a collision ( I had right of way on a twisty county road, as I got to a junction a car failed to stop at the give-way line and came into my lane, I swerved and lost control - maybe mud on the...

Trial E-scooters in London - additional conditions

 From the link : E-scooter and e-bike hire companies are often a target for vandals who damage the vehicles or throw them into rivers and canals. In 2018, Mobike withdrew from Manchester after losing 10% of its fleet every month to vandalism and theft. Lime said a vast majority of...
