    Top Gun Fork maintenance query

I was in a shop today that had two different types of Top Gun forks. Neither had nuts of screws on the bottom. One set had threaded rod coming out of the base which leads me to believe that you would have to take off the top cap of the fork and access from there. A check of you tube shows no...

    Battery Conditioning

I do not believe that a dealer has time to run down and recharge a 16amp battery 3 to 5 times. With a 50mile range, this could be up to 250 miles of riding. The customer letting the battery go down to the last light on the control and then recharging 3 to 5 times is more realistic. Following the...

    Schumacher's Helmet

It is all about chance whether or not you have an accident whether it be in a car or on a bike. There are some accidents that the helmet will help and others that won't I agree. As for the mandatory part of it, it is not just protection for the wearer. The big picture is protection of all so...

No outside tap? Bike need a clean? No problem. :-)

Just showed this to the wife. Suprising she said it was a great idea. On the next breath she said "don't get any ideas".

    Schumacher's Helmet

Lol . Aldi herrining fillets ymmm :) Seriously the Aldi helmets are not a bad bang for the buck. I see a lot of opposition to mandatory helmet use. Where I lived in Canada it was mandatory. When I was struck from behind, training for a race there, 4 years ago I was more than happy I was wearing...

    Paper Helmet?

Looking at the design, I not only like it, I would wear one. Unfortunately it would only survive one impact and then a new one would be needed. Having said that, even plastic/foam helmets sould be replaced after an impact as well. But who does. This may put you at risk in another impact situation.

    Top Gun Fork maintenance query

Perhaps I should clarify my suggestion. Clean the chrome with and oiled cloth wiping away the excess. I stand by my posting. The only thing I could have clarified was to wipe away any excess once cleaned. As you suggest, a dry, clean cloth will work fine. You are correct in stating that an oily...

    Top Gun Fork maintenance query

The top gun forks are a basic but a much improved fork over earlier ebike standard forks. The only thing you can do is keep the exposed crome clean and lubricated with a light oil (motor oil is good as well). If any rust appears, clean it right away with some fine steel wool and light oil. Do...

    BH Emotion serious problems

Wow! With all this negativity about Suntour forks you'd think that there are presently millions of Suntour equipped bikes sitting around waiting for parts. The rest soon to follow. I took up serious cycling again back in 2003 and from then until present I have probably racked up over 15,000...

    bike on ebay

Wow! All this negativity towards Suntour forks. Just think about how many bikes, electric and non electric, out there that use this brand of fork. If one were to take what I have read here I would have to assume that there are presently millions of bikes sitting around with unusable forks...

Rim width and tyre width, also which tyre?

A 2" tyre with work on your rim. As your bike was originally equipped with 1.75, you my need to look at frame clearance when considering a wider tyre. A 26×2.00" Schwalbe Marathon or Marathon plus would be a good replacement. The Schwalbe Energizer is a 1.75 specifically designed for ebikes is...

    Hi & advice needed :)

A 700c wheeled ebike with an 8 to 10ah battery should give you what you need. I presently ride a similar distance with hills on an 8ah BH City 700 and get about 40 to 45 miles depending on how energetic I am. It has an 8 speed Alivo mech btw.

    Advice on Commuter ebike

Yes indeed, 29ers are great. My Marin push bike has them. Getting a 29er ebike under the £1600 budget may be a challenge.

Back to cycling, need advice on which bike to buy.

I would suggest a 26", rear hub driven bike as those wheels tend to be built quite heavy. When I was looking for an ebike, Freego would supply their bike with a heavier built wheel for £100 extra (don't quote me on that price) for the heavier rider. I presently ride a BH City 700 which is mid...

    Advice on Commuter ebike

If you are not planning on many muddy fields, I would suggest going with a 700c wheeled ebike. They generally have a greater range that their 26" counter parts simply because of the thinner, higher pressure tyres offering lower rolling resistance. For under £1600 the best one I have seen and...
