    Electronic rear view mirror?

That is what I'm interested in too. But it's difficult to find a device that has SatNav AND rear view camera support PLUS the functionality of a media player. The only one I've seen so far is the Chinese one posted above with the 7" screen @ £60 + VAT and import costs. That would do everything...

    Electronic rear view mirror?

Low-tech but effective :) I've seen screen filters available that claim to eliminate glare and improve contrast. As for the waterproofing question... I think this might be ideal and solves the problem of mounting too: Bargain £6.50 with free delivery, from China! I've just ordered one..

    Electronic rear view mirror?

Here you go then Alan, this might interest you... It's the only Sat Nav I've been able to find that definitely supports AV camera input. Not sure how well it would perform as an electronic mirror though..my concern would be the LCD and light reflection.. It looks more like a PDA/Smartphone...

    Electronic rear view mirror?

For those interested, further research into the Archos devices and new findings... The cheap £16-£20 Archos cameras on eBay I mentioned, are only available for the Archos AV 404,504,604 models it seems. They will not work with other models. These models are no longer sold and are scarce on eBay...

    What about re-gutting batteries ?

Don't recycle, just replace with something cheaper. One of the main reasons I went down the self-build route was to have complete control and freedom over the type of battery I use. As I built a folding electric bike, my priority was to make the battery as light as possible and portable to...

    Folding electric bikes....which one ??

Hi Lynda, I've been riding a folding bike for a few months now and love the convenience of folding. Very easy to lift and carry around, hardly takes up any space when folded, so storage no problem, mine is full size 26" mountain bike but still fits in a cupboard. Should have no problem lifting...

    Electronic rear view mirror?

Just to clarify a couple of things on my previous post re the Archos... It seems the tablets come in two flavours, they have internet-enabled PC-style devices and the other type are more basic MP3/MP4 media players/DVRs known as the "Vision" series. The DVR's don't have the 100GB storage, only...

    Article: Lithium..... really hot batteries

This is very a scary story and goes to show how unpredictable these batteries can sometimes be and how serious the risk of fire and personal injury is. It would be interesting and perhaps useful to know where the battery was purchased from and with what type of charger it was charged.

    Electronic rear view mirror?

Thanks Alan, I actually had your PSP setup in mind when I got the idea, as I know you have mounted your teeny weeny PSP camera for rear view in past. That Hindsight gadget looks the business but I'm guessing it won't come cheap. If it's under £60 I would consider it, but I think more than that...

    Surprising speed

That sounds pretty performance good for the Cyclamatic with its lower power and is encouraging for others looking for a cheap bike option with the Cyclamtic being a sub-£500 bike. The speed you're getting is about on par with my own bikes performance which is 36V 250W (even with my light bike...

    The bike range question

I agree with Lynda, most cheap bikes should be able to do that distance with some assistance from you pedalling. I can do 18 miles round trip on my tiny 5Ah battery with light pedalling on pedal assist highest power level (this comes down to about 8 miles using throttle only). So If I used both...

    Electronic rear view mirror?

Thanks Lynda, I will give it a go if I can a suitable way to do it and report back... I'm taking on board flecc's comments though about screen visibility and glare..I guess that is going to be a problem with a lot of devices particularly in sunny weather. There are screen filters and such like...

    Electronic rear view mirror?

After buying a handlebar mirror and being disappointed with it, I got to thinking a better solution might be having an electronic rear view mirror using a small camera behind the seat and an LCD panel on the handlebar. The advantages of this over a mirror would be better view and stability. My...

First quarterly electricity bill with daily charging...surprised

Thanks Alan :) That sounds like fun, but not the falling off part, hope you didn't hurt yourself. I haven't been using my camera for a while, haven't had the opportunity just been so busy lately. Now the weather is getting nicer again will have to go on a long ride and do some films. Any news...

Security lock that deflects power tools

I haven't heard of this lock but it's about time someone came up with a decent lock or some anti-theft idea for bicycles.

First quarterly electricity bill with daily charging...surprised

Oh thanks for that shep that's really good news. I'm clueless when it comes to electricity costs and have had huge bills in the past but they have come right down since I switched to Eon.

    To Insure or not insure

Ok here's my two cents worth this.. I looked into the whole issue of insurance when I first decided to get an electric bike as I worried about leaving it anywhere and having it, or the battery, nicked or vandalised. I must say I was not impressed by what insurance companies offer us. There are...

First quarterly electricity bill with daily charging...surprised

Hi all, I got my first electricity bill last week since I moved from infrequent charging to daily charging of my battery as I use the bike for work. I was expecting my bill to be a fair bit higher than usual so I was nervous opening it. It wasn't higher. In fact I don't think it's...

    Cycle Mirror

Well after reading the posts and looking at the various recommendations I decided to go with the Blackburn Multi Mirror (£14.99 from Wiggles delivered free).. I chose it because I wanted one that folds down as I have a folding bike. I also wanted a decent sized mirror and this one seemed to fit...
