    Here comes the Snow

Commuting this morning was fine. So long as you stayed on the road. The side bits and pavements are very skippery. I came off one section onto it and was just about stayed on the bike. No brakes, just rolled to a stop. Defiently dont have the tires for it. still slow and steady and I got to...

To build or not to build ?

The geared motors will be faster off the line and more fun if you ask me for the same power. You can use ebikes.ca simulator to have a play. But at 30amp the geared hubs poo all over the direct drives. But they dont dispel heat as quickly and the gears and clutch can't take as much raw power...

To build or not to build ?

Setting the amps around 20 - 25 seems to give good range and plenty of power without burning up anything in the motor. Using 44v and the 320rpm wind you should be hitting close to 30mph flat out on that motor. I'm still waiting for my cable to come through from Lyen. However the software looks...

    The snow/rain stopped my bike

It'll be a throttle or pedelec function shorting out. I sometimes got it in heavy rain, mostly due to my powerpole connections being not what they should be. Solved by re doing connections. You'll have to just check the connections for water. Sometimes if you just leave the bike to dry out...

To build or not to build ?

Practical and it works which is the mainthing to start with. Aesthetics can always be work on. Hope it all does well

    Here comes the Snow

It's where I do my test riding. It's outside the apartment. Get some funny looks when you go out though !

New cheap forks and head set fitted

The gap between them is 105mm which is a little wider than my last fork. If you was to fit a front motor it would defiantly need the drop outs filing. There very deep as standard though and plenty of material around them. The fork legs are wider in circumference and much heavier than the last...

    Here comes the Snow

I've been testing mine this morning with new forks and headset. Full charged up and went round brum to waste some battery! This is the skyline over Birmingham. Only just started though!

New cheap forks and head set fitted

Hello all, Just a quick update to say my old odesa forks have been shot over the winter. Leaking seals and they finally gave up the ghost on the way back last night on my commute. They basically bottomed out and fatigued and there was that much flex it felt like they where going to snap...

    Electric2011 Dahon Jetstream P8

That's why D8veh uses the brake cut outs to kill it and the speed if need be. You could do similar if you removed the spring from a half throttle and you could adjust it on the fly. Although I'm sure it wouldn't be as accurate at sticking to one speed like the pot is.

Keeping the wind off your feet

Its a shame as the gortex over shoes wouldnt really work on a recumbent due to the angle of your feet. Alan, Maybe using the for sale signs you could put a funny comment on the front. Or advertise electric bikes ;-)

    Help with the law please

I'm currently trying to purchase an ezee rear motor for this very reason stated above and changing my bike to conform. I've since worked out with my dabbling I'm actually not getting anywhere quicker than an average of 18mph anyway. I've learn't alot from tinkering. Will retire the BPM to...

Car battery on electric bike...not what you think ;)

But you'd have a good 30 amp of useable power and some mega peak discharge potential... Good skills on the transporting. Bet in handled like a boat.

Keeping the wind off your feet

Binliners may work. I used to use them on my feet on the motor bike to stop them getting wet

    Bafang Bpm @ 66.6v nominal 18s lipo

Use gt power a6 10amp charger at home to balance the packs every night. Which I can just leave and let it charge the packs from empty to full in about 3 hours. Then I have a bulk 60v lead acid charger on 72v hot which puts about 75% capacity back in the batteries without balance charging...

    Bafang Bpm @ 66.6v nominal 18s lipo

I can make a video of how smooth it is if you like. The throttle becomes more sensitive the more volts and amps you chuck at it. This makes sense really. Im just using a wuxing half throttle. I sometimes get that thud as the clutch engages. It tends to be the known weak point of the first...

Keeping the wind off your feet

I use gortex rain over shoes. Even in the dry as they kill off any wind chill to hit the feet.

    Bafang Bpm @ 66.6v nominal 18s lipo

Maybe its because I feed the current in then with the throttle rather than full whack. If I just opened the throttle to full from standstill it will just wheelie rather than making any decent progress. A plug and play system would be nice. But I like only having 5 kilo of batteries and...

    Bafang Bpm @ 66.6v nominal 18s lipo

Its probably something I could have done with a little bit of work on my 9 fet controller. But I sold two other controllers for a grand total of £40 so in the end it cost me another £50 on top to upgrade or side step. The beauty of it though is being able to program it to how I like. It also...
