    e-bike kit sunlova wiring

BMS Battery do the brushless controllers you are after. However there will be a need to change some of the connectors to get it to work. They also come with more settings like cruise control etc... The sunlova controller I had was rated at 6amp, max 13amp. However it was tiny and very easy...

The electric bike is only for the grey generation.

Its the ethos we have in the UK over cycling. Its not really seen as a form of commuting by the masses. Either a weekend leisure / Lycra clad or pottering round the city. When your a child its a quick form of transport your allowed so most children have one. Its also a status symbol thing...

The Family man and E biking

Depends how much your inital outlay is in the first place. 1.5K is pretty hefy. My inital layout considering all bits and pieces such as new tools and electronics equipment - Nearer the £600 mark. However its turned into some kind of strange hobby with a mix of electrics i am interested in...

Why do people think 25km/h speed limitation is safe?

First of I'm sorry you feel unsafe on the road with your bike. Nothing worse. I ride on very busy roads in birmingham and sometimes cares do get a bit close. However the majority do give you plenty of space and to be honest I've probaboly got used to it. Sometimes being a bit slow is...

    Just a tthought.

Sounds like over engineering, an wouldn't it be heavy? With the laterst puncture resistant tires I havn't had a puncture in over 2000 miles. Thats on tires that are now squared off and dont actually have alot of tread left.

    Battery failure question

Still 7 to 8 months of use out of an a123 battery is pretty good. Did you balance it or have a Bms? I'm currently using lipo in a backpack and run 44v 5ah or 44v 10ah depending on the range. I enjoy knowing what each cell is doing and the flexibility lipo gives. They also have a mental...

The Family man and E biking

We got rid of my car and I cycle. Partners car is newer and more economical in the city and general traveling. Saves a bit but for now what I've saved in fuel I've spent on batteries and cycling bits. I have no where near the free cash as others. In the end I rented out my house moved to the...

Very nice build that's coming along. 15ah battery will be plenty for an 18 mile round cycle! Look forward to seeing the rest!

My longest ride on my ebike

Wow that's some distance to do under your own steam even with an electric assist. Impressive none the less so long as you don't have to anywhere that quickly! Hope you had a nice time doing it!

    I'm impressed with myself.

Interesting I did read about the stiff soles helping to transmit power but really wanted to know exactly how much will it actually affect. Ie like shaving a few grams off part of the bike etc... I have brough trainers with stiffer soles but only have cheaper plastic pedals anyway.

    charging info for 36v battery

In the BMS though the cells are kept in balance all the way through the charge. That was my understanding. As they are always attached to the BMS the cells should be increasing in volts while still being balanced.

    Is this project sheer lunacy?!

Sorry maybe I am being incorrect with my terminology. When I say slower wind it really means a lower rpm per volt electric hub motor. Each motor as long as it has the same volume of copper in has exactly the same torque and power. However selecting more coils (Winds) while reducing coil...

    I'm impressed with myself.

Glad the cycling is improving your fitness. I used electric untill I built up enough strength to complete my commute to work without feeling like I was going to die by the time i got to work. It will continue to improve the more you use it! Off Topic - How much do actual shoes / clip in's...

    Is this project sheer lunacy?!

The newer 250w models of bafang have better manufactured nylon gears now and people have stopped stripping them. Also as I said a slower wind in a smaller wheel the torque generated would be more managable for the motor. You wouln't be anywhere near as stressful as trying to get speed from the...

    Update on batteries

There's nothing wrong with using sla. Even more so if your either going to use it in frequently due to the cost aspect. However with the cheaper batteries are becoming and more wide spread availability and endless choice of cells for light weight batteries there appears to be more choice than...

How to get the best out of the e bike?

I think generally it depends on how sophisticated the controller is for each setup. Some Of the older contolleds litters my used the pedelec function as an off switch to apply motor power. The assist level or 3 speed switch was a basic 80%, 100% or 120% throttle adjuster. More advanced...

    Tonaro Bighit Remarkable Battery Range

There is a valid point with bikes maintaining a steady speed where both rider input and motor work hand in hand to acheive the best effciency and range. Even geared hub motors will have some drag that makes it harder to owed past the assistance alot of the time. Mist people throttle off when...

    Cycling Rates in Europe

Maybe 16% would own a bike but out of that 16% only 1% would use it. I have alot of friends that do weekend riding MTB and trials not competativly but they are quite outdoor orintated. If I said about commuting with a bicycle I think they laugh at me. A couple in London use it as their...
