    Bearprint Ebike battery woes :-(

What is the average life of a bicycle? Surely getting a bike to match that statistic would be useful in knowing what you should really aim at. Maybe commuter bikes would be better with the higher weight of Lifepo4 and cheaper costs with the life cycles. Sports models could have lower...

I dont know why i'm asking its not like i'm doing it. Must be a nightmare if you get a headwind and a hill on the rickshaw.

    Matt Baker - Rickshaw Challenge

90Kg... Suprised he can even get up hills with that weight. Another quick question... If lets say the Rickshaw with motor was 60kg. But you then carried the batteries/controller in a backpack, or removable bag. then does this get round the weight issue in the eyes of the law??

    When to charge?

Lithium batteries don't mind being topped up between journeys. Infect it's better for them unlike older nicad batteries. Like a phone battery there's now reason you can't top up when ever you've used it. It will also make the bike slightly quicker.

    Bearprint Ebike battery woes :-(

But you can get cheaper batteries made up now @ £200 for 36v 10ah. They are out there and there not so cringe worthy prices. Making Ebikes affordable. Its the fact most companies need to cover all bases and eventualities that anything like the above fails.

    Bearprint Ebike battery woes :-(

I'd keep chasing that warranty up. Its what you paid all those extra penny's for after all. How old is the battery? To be honest it should easily be handling the mileage really. 16ah even at 80% would make it a 12.8ah capacity battery. Lets say it eats up 20watts per mile thats still a 23mile...

    Bearprint Ebike battery woes :-(

The 16ah battery should be more than capable of supplying the current required on full assist. Does sound like one of the cells might have died or least having trouble and causing voltage sag. Although with the weather getting colder and colder everyones batteries will be taknig a hit on...

Alien Aurora - I'm starting an Alien family!

When I upped the amps on the Bpm from 20amp rated to 27 uning the shunt modification its only really made a difference on take off speed (as you'd expect) the hill climbing itself didn't really change all that much. I think i probably just put a bit more effort into cycling. Either 20 or 27...

    Stopped by police

I must admit even when I was in Nottingham over the weekend. It looked alot more bike friendly than Birmingham. Large cycle lanes and lots more people milling round on bikes. I can't believe how backward Brum is sometimes. Still German markets here (Mostly run by Poles) so thats going to add...

Alien Aurora - I'm starting an Alien family!

I would have assumed that should have been a 9 fet controller. I'd be a bit more mythed if it was a 6 fet dishing out the amps. Still at those powers it should always work as its effectivley underpowered. Which is probably why it seems so quiet and free running. I noticed how quiet the...

    ebike build.. newbie

You don't have a brake cut out on a car or motorbike. Why would you need one on an ebike?? The only real reason I can think of is to cut cruise control or if you want to cut out the pedelec sensor quicker than it naturally stops.

    ebike build.. newbie

Depends how much you peddle and terrain. With a similar battery and ku63 controller I used to get 6 to 10 watt miles which mean a huge range of 40 miles. Id probably say it's good for 30miles.

Wow I missed all of this. Anyway glad to see your back. I've not always agreed with some statements but never thought there without reason. I don't think I've ever been offended by you either. M5 Crash

I always buy stupid unreliable things. But I buy them because I like to learn about them and half my enjoyment comes from that education into how something works. My first motorbike was two stroke that I spent more time rebuilding it than riding it. But loved it all the more when it worked...

    Cheap eBay winforce lipo

Depends how lazy you are really and how much of a plug and play system you need. I guess it is more difficult than pluging a charger in and then turning on. But i'm hoping in the long run the cells have greater life becasue of it. Not saying that is fact but it takes 2 mins for me to remove the...

    Lights (again, sorry)

I'm definetly thinking of upgrading like alot of things on my bike lol. I don't really know what lumens are in real world light. Does it compare to say a car head light or a motorbike 55w bulb?!? What does that kick out?
