kalkhoff Pro Connect - brakes rubbing

I overbalanced whilst wheeling my Giant a few years ago and my hand pressed the side of the rim. The brakes were rubbing after that but I had actually distorted the rim. Hope yours is just a simple adjust.

    Pro Connect FULL REVIEW unedited.

I have had a Pro Connect since last July. Yes I had to wait for it because it was advertised months before it arrived in this country but it was worth the wait. My previous ebike was the 'classic ebike' the Giant Lafree Twist ST, and the Pro Connect is better in many ways i.e. great looks...

A Good Toy While the Battery Lasted

Came off my ProConnect in heavy snow this afternoon, As I went over I made sure the expensive bike and battery went down gently. My knee is starting to hurt a bit now but the bike is fine, thank God :)

A Good Toy While the Battery Lasted

I find this happens quite a bit on my route each day. There are several steep inclines which the ProConnect takes easily in its stride. A few weeks ago I was gently pedalling up one of the hills when a much younger bloke started to pull alongside me. He was extremely overheated and just managed...

A Good Toy While the Battery Lasted

This battery price is bad news for ebiking. The increase will put many people off 50Cycles products. I have been looking at Powabyke now. Just about £850 for what looks very similar to a Kalkhoff. That's half the price of my ProConnect.

How did you find out about electric bikes?

I was in my local bike shop about 3 years ago and noticed he had a Giant ebike on display. Later when I went back to the shop it was gone and he said he wasn't having anything to do with ebikes anymore. It had got my interest though and it made good sense to have a bit of help pedalling...

How many people do you know with e-bikes.

I haven't seen many up in the N.E. England. I think what puts people right off is the cost of an ebike. You can get a motor scooter for less than my ProConnect. What would the total price be for a basic, fairly lightweight bike with a panasonic motor and battery fitted? Surely...

    Alternative to the Helmet debate

I've only ridden a horse twice but at a walking pace and I must say that once you get used to it, it is just as enjoyable as ebiking apart from the regular exhaust noises which the animal emits. Mr Nutt was on TV last night trying to explain himself but not doing a very good job of it.

    Kalkhoff Prices

I was planning to buy another ProConnect in July to use as a back-up. I like the bike but I can't justify paying the new price. I'm quite happy with the gears so don't see why I have to pay more for 'better' gears. A loyalty discount would be a good idea :D

    Those pesky Grids

I was just thinking about this when cycling home yesterday - quite a coincidence as I was thinking of posting the same question. I talked with a motorcyclist last week about this and he was of the opinion that you should have 'road presence' and I think I agree with him. I used to keep well...

Cycling on hold for the moment.

carpetbagger, I work for a company which designs and builds dozer blades. We could probably put one together for you to suit your bike and with a matching paint job. Would only cost you a few thousand quid....I would suggest a little wheel at each corner of the blade, similar to stabilizers. :D

Cycling on hold for the moment.

I'm looking out of the window at the moment and there is a huge area of untouched snow out there - not a youngster in sight! When my kids were little they would have been out with all the neighbours kids having fun making snowmen and I would have been out there with them. How things have...

Rant: State of our (UK) roads

Some years ago I went to Sri Lanka for a holiday. The roads there are bad and very congested with all sorts of traffic including elephants, ox-carts. The coach we were on took 3 hours to do 50 miles. I think we in the UK will be doing similar times the way the roads are being allowed to...

    How many ebikers are motorbikers?

Interesting topic this. Ebikers do have an image of an elderly person riding along as someone has said on this topic. It is surprising to see how many were and are motorcyclists. I have had my full motorcycle license since I was 17. I had a few small motorbikes and scooters - could never...

    Panasonic Li-ion Battery Charger Issues

I got my ProConnect last July and have had battery / charger problems with it sometimes not starting to charge. I have posted on this site previously about it. To get the charger to work I just unscrew the plug cover and wiggle the fuse and 2 pin plug and screw the cover back. It works...

Rant: State of our (UK) roads

Last year all along my route they started digging up the roads to renew pipework and they also dug up various places to put in new street lighting. The resulting repairs (by a major cotractor) were appalling. One long stretch had a metre wide repair which resembled a corrugated sheet surface...

    How do you see e-bikes?

I see my Pro Connect as a an attractive bike compared to my Giant Lafree Twist ST which looks like an 'old man's bike' I have had loads of admiring glances from youngsters (at the bike, not me) Last week my son got a motor bike and posted a picture on Facebook for all his friends to see. I...

How many miles per week do you cycle?

I'm doing 65 miles a week on my Pro Connect and in all weathers! It beats sitting in traffic jams :)

News: 50Cycles launch the Kalkhoff Agattu Pedelec

50Cycles replaced a battery for my Pro Connect over Xmas. There was no problem and the replacement was back with me in a few days.
