    Channel 5 Gadget Show

Andy Thanks for posting this background information. I don't particularly like the way The Gadget Show is presented but at least now I know that research did take place.

Which is Safer, Road or Cycle Path?

Cycle paths I stopped using the cycle paths, (created on a former railway line) on my route to work, several years ago. As a lone rider I felt vunerable after a number of incidents involving drunken teenagers who crowded the path and also dog owners who seemed to think they owned the paths for...

    Unbelievable

I phoned the local paper because I don't want this happening to other cyclists as it is on the C2C Route. The reporter got back to me to tell me that the building contractor was blaming the water board - presumably for putting the water over the mud

    Unbelievable

I've cycled in all weathers for years without any major problem. This morning I set-off for work and was enjoying the ride in on my Pro Connect. Conditions were perfect - warm, dry and no wind. I got to where there are major roadworks taking place and noticed that again there was water on the...

    Back-up bike!

Flecc, What I meant was that if a wheel needed replacing then there is a lot more expense to have the hub gear fitted into the new wheel whereas a wheel fitted with a derailleur gear is much easier and cheaper because it is simpler to do. Am I correct in assuming this?

    Back-up bike!

Thanks for the feedback Flecc. I like the look of the E-motion City Deluxe 700 [Crossbar] It has a gear change which I prefer, compared to the twist type of the Agattu, but I see it also has derailleur gears. My Proconnect has hub gears but in the light of the recent discussions on this...

    Back-up bike!

I was wondering what forum members think about having a back-up bike. Mine is a Giant Lafree Comfort ST which I used for just over a year before I bought a Pro Connect. I do 13 miles a day to and from work but was thinking about selling the Giant and getting an Agattu because it will have...

    ProConnect S arrives damaged !

You are right about the boxes. When my Pro Connect arrived last year having only travelled a couple of hundred miles at most here in the UK there were several holes in the bottom of the box at the corners and a loose pedal was hanging out. The company I work for exports equipment to the US...

My final word on Pro Connect wheels

I find this situation very disturbing. I have been following the discussion for some time now and hopefully we will see a favourable outcome. I am also a concerned Pro Connect owner.

Kalkoff Agattu vs. Tasman vs. Pro Connect

I've had my Pro Connect for almost a year and originally bought it because of the lighter weight. However the ride is awful and I have had to fit a sprung seat post and a Comfort saddle to try to make the journey more tolerable. It would be fine on a really smooth surface but on our roads every...

    Tyres - What to get?

I got punctures early on when I first got a Giant Lafree and found out about the excellent Marathon Plus tyres on this forum. I fitted them and had no more problems. When I got my ProConnect last year the first thing I did was to fit some Marathon Plus to it.

    long term solution for commuters?

I've been using ebikes for 4 years as an alternative to sitting in traffic jams and it is great to go past the stationary traffic and get home or to work in exactly the same time each day. Ebiking means you can cycle to work without having to shower when you get there as it can be much more...

I'm beginning to hate (some) cyclists

I don't say anything to cyclists that I pass on my commute because some of them can take it the wrong way, especially if they are having a hard time climbing a hill or going in to the wind. Recently I passed a younger bloke on a steep hill and when I got on the level he pulled alongside...

    Which Kalkhoff for off-road

I agree with this. The Pro Connect is very uncomfortable even on ordinary roads. I am going to fit a sprung seat post on mine to ease the discomfort. Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive, one bolt fixing seat post as there are so many to choose from? If I go ahead with plans to get a...

    Cycle Lane Law?

The road goes to the Tyne Pedestrian / Cycle Tunnel north entrance. It was origionally two way and wide enough for lorries, etc but in order to have it classified as the CTC Route they plonked a cycle lane on it next to the pavement reducing the width of one vehicle lane in doing so. The cycle...

    Cycle Lane Law?

Can someone enlighten me about what the law is when vehicles park in cycle lanes? Yesterday I turned right onto a cycle lane which goes to a cycle / pedestrian tunnel. A car was stationary on the cycle lane and the driver was talking on his mobile phone. I had to go round his vehicle...

    Full Circle

I was thinking about how I have gone full circle with my personnal transport over a period of about 50 years. I started out on a second-hand bicycle. It was black all over and huge for someone just ten years of age and who had never ridden a bike before. I can remember my dad encouraging me...

    Degreaser

I should have been a bit clearer on this question. This Cleaner thingy is an enclosed brush which must revolve when the pressured cleaning stuff is activated. It is fitted over the chain and then you operate the pedal and the chain must go through the 'thingy' and comes out lovely and clean...

    Degreaser

I was planning to clean all the filth off my ProConnect chain this weekend and have been looking at cleaners. Is this any good? Muc Off Chain Doc Chain Cleaner Cat. code: 805572-0 The Muc Off Chain Doc banishes grime from bicycle chains with minimal effort
