Total newbie looking to buy an eBike, want some advice on a model!

That controller has a higher wattage than the one that comes with the Yosepower 250w. kits, but the Yose controllers are Lishui brand and come with waterproof Julet connectors. You would have to identify all the wires and cut/solder them. Even then, it may not work with the Lishui C500 display...

Total newbie looking to buy an eBike, want some advice on a model!

You linked to a Yose front hub kit. I have no experience of those. I bought a 28" wheel 250w. rear hub kit for cassette with battery:- 36V250W 27.5"/28" Rear E-Bike Conversion Kit for Cassette with 36V13Ah – YOSE POWER UK I've since bought and fitted a more powerful 18amp Yose controller...

Total newbie looking to buy an eBike, want some advice on a model!

Yep, i'm very pleased with the two kits I bought from Yosepower UK (not Aliexpress and both delivered in 3 days). I bought one kit without a battery and share one on the basis that I can only ride one bike at once! :D I effectively got two bikes kitted out for the price I would pay for one...

How tight should hub nuts be?

It's all very well tightening them up super-tight, but some consideration needs to be made about whether you can undo the nuts out on the road if you need to remove the wheel to fix a puncture. I carry a small adjustable spanner, which is no good if the nuts have been tightened with a long...

    Throttle hidden switch

Interesting. I recently bought (March) a Yose 250w. rear hub kit and the throttle would only act as a "walk assist" (about 5mph) regardless of what I did to the throttle settings. I bought and subsituted a Yose 18amp controller that they supply with their 350w. kits. This enabled the throttle to...

Adding throttle to Yose Power pedal assist kit

Read the instructions I linked in post #4. There isn't a 2.4.4. The throttle HND settings are 4.2.4 and 4.2.5. They should both be set to N, not Y.

Adding throttle to Yose Power pedal assist kit

Did you try looking at the settings as in my post #4? The throttle should still work without brake sensors.

Adding throttle to Yose Power pedal assist kit

The indicator changes when you alter the PAS level. Eco = PAS 1 &2 Normal = PAS 3 & 4 Power = PAS 5.

Adding throttle to Yose Power pedal assist kit

Have you tried the settings? Those for the C500 display are listed here:- Download (yosepower.com) Worth printing off for future reference. Go into "general settings" (hold down SET for 2 seconds). Then go into "advanced settings" (hold SET and MINUS for at least 10 seconds - until SET flashes...

    Some advice needed please...

You and I have obviousy been thinking along the same lines! I thought the battery on top of the rack would scream "ebike" and wanted to disguise it. I wanted a rack top bag to enclose it - even to the extent of cutting the bottom out and just sliding it on top, but I couldn't find one long...

    Some advice needed please...

I did something similar to you but used a piece of painted 9mm thick marine plywood:- It's all secured with bolts and nuts tightened up with spring washers before fitting the rack to the bike. In my case the battery holder includes an integrated contoller so the cables are run up the rear...

Two boys die in "ebike" accident: Cardiff riot broke out after 'police prevented parents seeing fatal crash victims', close relative says

Fair enough. I'm not familiar with these machines, but does using one on the highway require the rider to have a licence, insurance and the wearing of a crash helmet? Does carrying a passenger require a full motorcycle licence?

Two boys die in "ebike" accident: Cardiff riot broke out after 'police prevented parents seeing fatal crash victims', close relative says

So, let's look at the evidence that's available. Two teenagers are riding on an electrically-propelled bike designed to carry one person, on the public highway. It may or may not be steet legal, but either way no helmets are being worn. They approach a police van and decide to turn tail and run...

Help! Hailong 1 battery mount replacement

Yes, that looks like the right one. All you will need to do is remove the 4-pin male connector from the old controller and solder the wires to the new one. Alternatively, TBK sell them so you could buy a new one at the same time. Hailong 4Pins Power Discharge Connector Male or Female [Hailong...

    Do I need brake sensors?

It's definitely the return spring inside not functioning propery. When the replacement arrives I might take a look inside, but more likely it will end up in the bin.

Help! Hailong 1 battery mount replacement

Thinking about this a bit more, you say your controller-battery mount is 5 years old? I don't know when it happened, but Yose changed from KT controllers and displays to Lishui controllers and displays a while ago. If yours is a KT controller and you replace it with the one in the link I posted...

Help! Hailong 1 battery mount replacement

Ebike Batteries sell replacement battery plugs and sockets for the H1 mount:- Hailong 4 & 5-Pin Male & Female Discharge connectors – eBike Batteries You could try just replacing the male plug on the end of the controller (just two wires). If that doesn't work you might have a controller fault...

    Do I need brake sensors?

As mentioned in post #13, my throttle developed a fault on Monday while riding. It wouldn't fully shut off without pulling it back with a finger. When I fitted the kit I wasn't going to bother with brake sensors as I have cable brakes with Shimano combined brake lever/shifters, and it's nigh-on...

Next Project - mum in law bike

I really don't know, but it seems to be % power based. I don't think your MIL will be disappointed with the 350w. kit. On Monday I fulfilled a long-help ambition to cycle to the top of a local beauty spot (Barr Beacon, West Midlands) - on a fine day you can see for miles around! It's 227 metres...
