    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

Thanks @saneagle, but I will probably leave it as it is. I would rather ride responsibly and take the risk if stopped that the marking is not too obvious, than put a dubious sticker on it however convincing it might be. I tried to remove a small area of the markings earlier with acetone and...

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

Indeed so, but (being pedantic) it doesn't actually say that. It says 95RS. R350-3626. I decypher that as 350w. 36 volt 26" wheel, but there is no W after the 350, so it's not immediately obvious to the average copper - it could just be a serial number. I'm tempted to get a 250w. sticker off...

Perhaps a "design engineer" has joined from another company. The Chinese do seem to have a very limited understanding of "intellectual property rights"! :D

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

I had assumed from the markings that they are AKM motors. However, I bow to your superior knowledge on all that's pedelec. Here is a photo of the markings on my 250w hub:- On Aikema's website the 95RX seems to have identical markings, but looking at the photo now it is clearly a different...

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

What I said was "the model number and "Yosepower" is engraved on the hub eg. AKM22041404012 95RS.R350-3626." However, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are two of the 350w. motor:- The 250w. is similarly marked, but the numbers are obviously different.

What? It is what I said and I am answering! :D

No they don't. The engraving includes "AKM" and the model references 95RS and 95RX. "Yosepower" is also engraved on them. The only labels are a round one "CE" and a square one "UK CA". I'm assuming that this is because the motors are OEM for Yose by Aikema.

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

After reading through many posts here and elsewhere, I'm still not clear on how the law applies to kits and/or bikes manufactured before 6th April 2015. My two bikes are as follows:- Forme Hybrid 2014 model year. Yose 250w. kit Giant GSR400 MTB 1992. 350w. kit. Both kits purchased and fitted...

    Riding ebike in the rain

Small, thin clear plastic bags (supermarket fresh veg aisle or freezer bags) and elastic bands. Small enough to put in your pocket and you can take them off again when it stops raining so condensation doesn't build up.

Ah yes, hadn't thought of that! I guess the mystery will remain.

I've just taken another look at the listing for the Aikema 95RX:- aikema HUB MOTOR Rated Power 250W/350W Speed(km) 27/32 This reads as two versions to me - 250w or 350w with corresponding speeds of 27 and 32 kmh. Knowing the square root of nothing about motors, does this mean that...

The 250w. kit is on 700c wheels and the 350w. is on 26". They share the same battery. The 250w kit came with a 15amp controller and a Lishui c500 display that doesn't allow speed setting. The 350w kit comes with an 18 amp contoller and c500 display that does allow speed settings. I bought an 18...

Yes it does, although to me it doesn't feel like it. The rate of acceleration seems much more pronounced as you move up the PAS levels and it doesn't feel like an "all or nothing" on and off. That might just be my perception though as I've no experience with anything else. What I can say...

Out of curiousity I've just put my bike on a stand to test the no-load max speed (Yose 350w. rear hub, same as OP but freewheel and 26" wheels). Max speed is 24.7mph using either PAS 5 or thottle alone with battery voltage at 39.6v. Yose list the max speed as 30-32km/h (18-20mph), and I think...

    Tyres which ones?

Schwalbe Big Apple 26 x 2 or 26 x 2.15 . Comfortable balloon-style tyre that can be run at low pressures. Lighter (and cheaper) than Marathons but still have good puncture protection. Very low rolling resistance and good for road, gravel and towpaths. Not for muddy off-roading though. Schwalbe...

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

......and now my turn for a silly question! I'd assumed the opposite. What difference does it make? Until now I hadn't really looked closely at the "Chinglish" instructions supplied with my Yose battery and charger. Reading them now it says "Connect the connector pin of battery case firstly, and...

    Throttle hidden switch

I'm fairly certain that the C500 display that Yose sell separately will include max speed settings as they don't specify different versions for different motors. If anybody has a 350w. they will expect the replacement to have the same speed setting option. The 350w. controller is a worthwhile...

    Current yose kit build

Thank you.:) I was lucky that, despite the bike being near the bottom of the 90's Giant MTB range, it includes threaded mounts for a low-rider rack on the forks. The bottle cage uses one of these plus a clear zip-tie. It works well -doesn't affect the steering much with a full bottle and I'm...
