    48 V Bafang KT Build

The motor watt rating is a bit random but bikes for the UK and EU market are generally marked as 250w. I have a Bafang G020 . they seem to be marked 250w , 350w and 500w : https://bafang-e.com/en/oem-area/components/component/motor/rm-g020250350500ddc I've been very pleased with it and I...

    Modifying to Torque Sensing

I have used kt controllers with minimum config, top speed, wheel size and then set the parameters to make the throttle legal if I'm fitting one. I think the thing I like is I can easily control how much assistance I am getting rather than an algorithm working it out - 13%, 20%, 33% 50% or 100%...

power Controller for reention battery slider

Yes - I think putting the controller in the battery mount makes a very neat solution - I think topbikekit do one for KT 9 Mosfet 48V 22A controller. I wondered if there was someway of incorporating an integral heatsink (Aluminium lump with fins) to cool the controller

Looking for advice on 48v battery

Yep - the legislation refers to the rated power of the motor not the actual power. If you restrict it to 15.5 mph you may get away with a police check, but they would legally have the right to seize it That site has an interesting 48V 250W Geared Hub motor with a 48V 17A controller - that is...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

There's a really interesting set of articles by Sam Freedman on the rise of the radical right and the decline of the centre right and the tensions and overlaps of the hard economic libertarians (including all the "tech bros" ) and the populists. Also we now have a network of alternative media...

    For Sale Bargains

https://electricbikereport.com/dyu-d3f-review/ In the review it says the max motor power is 240w and max speed with pedalling is 12-13 mph on the flat but it does mention it's twitchy handling

    Modifying to Torque Sensing

Completely agree on the hill starts, it's really tricky on very steep hills with a cadence sensor unless you have a "throttle" Speed / Current control - my experience is totally the opposite though, my average heart rate on rides is the same on torque control, speed control, current control and...

    For Sale Bargains

I always thought these looked pretty cool for £400, 36v 10ah battery. Not sure what 14" wheels are like to ride on ! https://uk.dyucycle.com/products/dyu-small-electric-bike-d3f

    Modifying to Torque Sensing

Psychologically I used to ride round in level 3 (which was 60% of full power I think) compared to level 3 on the KT (33% of full power) and a lot of the time I was pedalling moderately hard which the torque sensor translated to full power for that level ! So I get better range on the KT but...

    Modifying to Torque Sensing

I've used the Woosh BBTS on on of my bikes - I thought it was very good. I particularly liked being able to turn the pedals with no motor assist as I changed down coming to a junction and its ability to do hill starts - the motor would kick on very quickly - faster than my KT. I'm sure it...

    Who remembers this guy.

Huge reduction in crime rates in England and Wales over the last 20-30 years in nearly all categories (I reckon it coincides with unleaded petrol) :

    Ebike News

Surely 8 gears is more than enough for a bike with motor assist, especially if you are limited to 15.5 mph. All the slight gradients where you would need to change gears on a normal bike you can just stay in top gear with the motor assist ?

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Thanks, I try to watch anything by her on TV and read her books, I haven't read Emperor of Rome yet. I listened to 12 Caesars as an audiobook, but I think it is a more degree level academic book and assumes a better academic knowledge than I have got ! Even so it was very interesting as to how...

    Macfrey kits on aliexpress

Looks pretty much standard (which is a good thing!) akm-85 motor, standard 12 magnet cadence sensor - I'd want the 10Ah battery. I suspect the one in the photos is the small 5Ah battery. Topbikekit I think use the lighter AKM-75 front hub motor

Recommendations for a 'Legal' 250W Rear Hub/26 Wheel for use with KT Controller

Woosh do a 48V hub kit https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?hubkits#dwg22c-48v-kit I don't know if they would just sell the motor wheel by itself they pair it with a 48V 17A controller, so I wouldn't go above 20A - you would have to "downtune" your existing KT controller - Off the top of my head I can't...
