E-Bike sales in $ overtake city bikes in Holland

I notice sales of ordinary bikes are declining. Maybe they're reaching saturation point. I was surprised electric bikes would be popular in relatively flat areas but I guess they're a big plus in adverse wind conditions.

    My wife's new Tongxin bike

Very impressive looking conversion. Mrs B would love that.. The saddlebag does a great job of disguising the battery. I'm considering converting my wifes ladies Raleigh alpha sport (the one with the double top tube) with a Tongxin. The saddlebag approach would be a nice retro touch. PS. Good...

    Speed, Power and Lycra

A fit rider, light bike, skinny tyres, lycra, supportive team and not having to use the brakes. Most of us fail to qualify on all counts - well at least I do :( . I'm a "12.8 MPH" er, and quite enjoy the odd freewheel and no way am I getting into lycra.

    1000W 48V Hub Conversion Kit

I couldn't tell the difference, even with a magnifying glass. What's he done to that then eh?. Then I scrolled down and found the "after" piccies. :o Extremely impressive looking upgrade.

Dirt Lid Style Helmets, Ok For Road Use ?

I thought they were probably safer than normal helmets because they were smoother and fitted closer around the head making them less likely to twist and cause neck injury in certain types of accident.

    Marathon Plus disappointment

I did recommend Marathon Plus to someone who had a puncture earlier this year. Sods law he had another puncture a few weeks after fitting them.:o There's just some things in the road that no inflatable tyre is going to survive. Looks like Marathon Plus are your best chance though.

Picking up new Cytronex bikes tomorrow

That's interesting. I often cycle (mostly local & relatively flat) without the battery but with the front hub wheel in place. It sometimes feels like there's some slight drag and naturally I always suspect the hub freewheel. In truth I suspect it's just the assistance I've got use to. It's...

    Marathon Plus disappointment

I think 3000 miles without a puncture (even if you only ride on roads) is outstanding.

Picking up new Cytronex bikes tomorrow

Well done. I was really interested to find out what the bike was like to ride without the hub motor in the front wheel? Did you notice much difference? Was the decrease in drag noticeable? I think you definately made the right move changing the wheel. The Cytronex is a lightweight solution...

Picking up new Cytronex bikes tomorrow

Brilliant especially as you were on the Trek hybrid rather than one of the Cannondales! Mind you 18MPH is good going if the motor was only helping up to 15mph.

    My First Electric Bike

Great plan Flecc. We're relying on you to help us out when it all goes 'orribly wrong. I reckon you'll make it too.:) Kenny - that bike sounds bl@*dy brilliant. The £2k is a bit a killer but what a cracking way to finance it. It's true as well these electric bikes are great "toys" and it's...

Picking up new Cytronex bikes tomorrow

I'd swap the wheel. You'll feel much happier knowing that no-ones going to suspect you of "cheating". Maybe you could buy a spare DTswiss rim for similar occasions. Then again I guess they cost a princely sum.

    I give up ... ?

Technically I believe Burroughgrove Hill is actually shrinking. Also gravity comes in waves and I've noticed it gets stronger on Monday mornings. This is the 2nd thread about relegating e-biking to the 2nd division in the last couple of weeks. Must be the good weather. I think it's a...

Well no dithering there. Straight in with order! Sounds like a very nice purchase and should build up those calf muscles a treat. :)

Cytronex - Still doing Trek bikes?

Hi Rab Cytronex don't supply the Treks anymore. Shame really because I thought they were nice bikes. If you haven't seen them yet here are the links to the Claud Butler and the other bikes which I think are also good bikes but as you say more expensive. I'm sure this years Cytronex Treks would...

I made the leap and left the battery at home.

I've been thinking along these lines as well. I very nearly bought a Specialized Tricross 2008 earlier this year. They were selling brand new for a remarkable £270. They sold out fast! Single speed though so I would have had problems with hills and I'm sure my knees would have given me hell...
