    Lidl Cycle Clothing 2009

I must say I agree. Price is not always indicative of quality. I have some great quality cycling kit from Aldis. I also have some expensive quality stuff from my LBS and the internet. I have no gripes with either. You have to be discerning and sometimes just try things out. The winter cycling...

    Review on GOCYCLE

I totally agree Bigbee. This bike definately has that iconic designer look. Some really interesting features. I especially liked the in-frame battery. The 10 mile range and the "noisy motor" would put me off. I think my wife would love it though.

    Powabyke x-24?

Rad: Good to hear the bike was such a success. :)

    Powabyke x-24?

I don't know the X-24 but second your comment on the Cytronex. No noticable drag at all. I've done 500 miles to date. Still early days but no problems with the bike so far. :)

    Powabyke x-24?

Sadly not all companys. My company only offers Halfords. There was no way to get round that. I think that's because Halfords take on all the admin etc. Also with Electric Bikes I was limited to ETS. No other options from Halfords where forthcoming.

Am i kidding myself? Advice please?

I've always been very impressed with your commute Mussels and it does make a lot of sense. We all tend to judge things by our own experiences and capabilities. I really wouldn't fancy it myself but then I don't know the terrain and Emmas current circumstances.

Worried about having your bike nicked?Try this?

The handlebars would make a nice perch for the pidgeons but let's be honest it's not really going to happen is it.

    Range ~ the challenge

Good luck with battery and bike repairs Danny. Totally agree that slower progress has its own charms. Can't beat taking it easy and freewheeling on a nice quiet sunny day - warm or cold.

Not sure my ebike is any quicker over my commute than a road bike would be.

My bikes being a Cytronex is both Hybrid & electric. I can take the battery off (2.5KG) and apart from the nano hub, controller and wiring its a standard mid-range Hybrid bike. I sometimes ride it like this and the difference on the flat or downhill, with no headwind, is not worth the cost. Ok...

Am i kidding myself? Advice please?

I'm with Essexman. It's way too far for me to do as a regular commute. If I was going to do it, though, I'd get a Wisper. There's no way I'd do it on my Cytronex. - even with 2 Cytronex batteries, the faster wheel, and 2 chargers. This one really is all about the battery. I can do the distance...

Please can we ban certain topics

Yeah have to agree about the MP3 and focus. I don't use one myself - MP3 player that is. Still we were only having a bit of fun originally prompted by Phil the drills leather flying helmet which by the way we haven't seen yet. Or did those rats finish it off?

My thoughts as well. It's also got a microphone. Could fit this to a loudspeaker mounted on the handlebars and use as an effective vocal alert. Also keeps ears warm in winter. Also should get you noticed on the road. It pays to stand out from the crowd.

Rant: State of our (UK) roads

Yes I've noticed it to. Some of them are enormous. Maybe it's the cold weather and freezing temperatures we've had lately. Probably takes a while to catch up with repairs.

    How do you see e-bikes?

Well I'm an even bigger "cheat". I have the Cytronex with the thermos flask battery and the relatively discreet Tongxin nano motor in the front wheel. Honestly no one notices so I have to tell them. How do I see them. I don't. Which is a pity because they're such great machines. How much...

Please can we ban certain topics

There's a certain irony there. :D I'm still quite taken with the idea of a leather flying helmet. This one looks most interesting. Certainly stands out from the crowd. RUSSIAN LEATHER FLYING HELMET on eBay, also Air Force, Other Militaria, Militaria, Collectables (end time 07-Feb-09...

How many miles per week do you cycle?

I'm averaging about 40 miles a week. This dropped down to 0 for a few weeks when I avoided the cold, ice, and salt on the roads. Almost all my miles are miles that would have been done in my car.
