Prices of the electricity we use to charge

This was ONS up to July 2023 showing England and Wales 200,000 Covid deaths and 64 vaccine related deaths (Mostly Astra-Zeneca? think the MRNA ones are much safer - https://www.bmj.com/content/380/bmj.p741 )...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Individually they wouldn't know their life was saved, they would most likely just have a milder Covid 19 infection or not got an infection at all. You can still estimate the number that have been saved by studying the age standardised death rates of vaccinated vs un-vaccinated to naive...

Big battery or small battery plus a spare?

1 big battery, you'll spend more time riding around with more power. Less strain on the battery. A half full 36v 600wh battery will have 20% more power than a 300wh at the end of it's range. (36v Vs 30v) Only a small minority of my trips I need more than 50% range

Commuter bike for 6’1 14 stone man

I wonder if we followed the 'lighter touch' of Germany, France and Denmark whether it would encourage companies to offer speed pedelecs (maybe with insurance bundled in). I don't think this is a big market in the UK at the minute ? I think it would encourage take-up if you could basically do a...

    Cheapish Motor Wheels

I think those are all valid points and I really enjoy my crank drive, but there is something very simple and relaxing about riding on a hub bike, don't need to worry about gears so much, especially starting off and accelerating and I think even more so for anyone that isn't used to conventional...

    Cheapish Motor Wheels

I think I have noticed a trend towards mid drive in the last year. When I bought my Bafang BBS mid drive kit the Bafang resellers also sold the Bafang hub drive klt and there seemed to be equal visibility on ebay, Amazon, AliExpress. Now they seem to be pushing the BBS01,02 and HD rather than...

    Help me buy an ebike

to be fair, the mechanics there are really good, help me out with any jobs on my ebikes that I either don't have the skills or tools, they inserted the Press Fit Bottom Bracket adapter on my Boardman and ordered and replaced a couple of spokes on my rear hub and trued the wheel at very...

    Help me buy an ebike

Yes, when I went into my local bike shop, the cheapest electric bike "in the sales" was £2000 (which had quite a small battery). I was thinking in countries with high e-bike use like China, Vietnam, India, Philippines, Taiwan that they couldn't afford European e-bike prices, but must still be...

    Help me buy an ebike

I get the feeling that the UK bike is dominated by sports / leisure market compared to some other countries. Also In Europe (including UK), I think there is quite strong protectionist instinct. I think in lots of other countries across the world e-bikes have been a bit of a quiet revolution and...

    Eleglide experiences

I must admit to testing out electric bikes on steep hills too ! And an engineering background I am 105kg , 59 years old, quite a strong pedaller I've tried the above hill on my 48 v mid drive Bafang BBS bike and flew up it (mind you it does have max current of 25 amps!) I tried it on my 36V...

Curious about the difference between allowed wattage for 250W LPM ebikes and normal EU ebike legislation

Interesting - so these people that run their BBS02 and hd at 52V will have to pedal faster to make the most of it !

Commuter bike for 6’1 14 stone man

From the article " in the Flanders region of Belgium where a pioneering project has classified the s-pedelec as a ‘Moped class P’, which meant that traffic regulations bent to enable them access to cycle paths. Using this test pool, researchers were able to determine that speed pedelec users...

Commuter bike for 6’1 14 stone man

That in the UK have the same legal categorisation as mopeds ? I am under the impression that that's currently a very small market ? I wonder if a brand actively marketed them, maybe with a tie in with an insurance company. I think the regulations should probably be slightly different to mopeds.
