    all wheel drive

Ref. photo in post # 2. Some years ago I spoke to a chap in the DOT about the idea of using a generator in a trailer to alternatively charge and swop 2 smaller batteries. Two batteries charged in the trailer he said would be acceptable but two motors would be illegal. Later in the...

Electric bike insurance cover from CycleGuard.....

You might be able to get suitable insurance by contacting your home insurance provider. My home insurance cover cost £15 for up to £1500 for the bikes in total, with separate cover for Personal Liability which I think is worth while in the present times. Dave

    currie motor derestricting

Alan, Still some glare after 3 tries but might suffice, check that ~ 4, file too big. 2 clamp plates removed to show structure. Can confirm that the original Currie moves and climbs well but the throttle appears to got from 3/4 to max in one move. Would you like measurements? Dave

Trike'll be here soon-what do I need? (locks, helmet, mirror recommendations please)

Greetings Alan, Sorry, the Master recons that it was about 5 years since I ordered it but we can't recall having to wait any length for delivery, not tapping a foot she says. I keep it permanently on one pair of specs and still wear them for anything other than shopping trips. I like the way...

Trike'll be here soon-what do I need? (locks, helmet, mirror recommendations please)

Tara, You may wish to consider a helmet or spectacle mirror. The advantage of having a constant rearward view is that movement in the mirror registers immediately. Our peripheral vision is more sensitive to movement and claims our attention. The only downside that I have found with the...

    Simply The...New Additions..

Could this hike in prices be in response to the unstinted praise given by existing owners? They have still retained one model at a relatively modest price, are the components of proportionately lower cost? Dave

    How many gears

Greetings Caroline, In post # 6 you specify your intended hill as 1 in 3 and I doubt if any normal hub motored bike could manage this without a rider who is also capable of riding this hill unaided. I have a 3 speed hub geared Guitane with a Panasonic motor that drives through the gears in...

Who has tried an electric trike?

I am very much enamoured with my Panasonic powered bikes but there are times when I really need power without pedalling to get me home. I recently bought an older 24" Powatrike with 3 speed hub gears, 36V SLA batteries, throttle and no pedelec function to see if a trike would suit my needs...

    I want a tilting trike :D

Greetings Tara, SteveW of this forum has put his trike for sale here and in an add on Velovision forum classifieds for £700. There has been no response as far as I can see up to 1/08/20011 so it could be worth while contacting him with an offer. This is a British made trike with a Cyclone...

Electrical power measurements on my Agattu

10mph, Your good news is that the newer motors do appear to give more assistance than mine, an advantage that I might well need in the near future. The clamp probe that I have fastened to the Gitane is much the same as the system you are using. The probe outputs 1mv for each amp in the...

Electric trike conversion - advice needed please

Greetings Jaunty, Can't offer help concerning a hub motor but my experience with a recumbent might interest you. I 'installed' a double freewheel Cyclone motor to the middle of a long wheelbase recumbent which works very well indeed but I have difficulty with derailleur gears, I forget to...

Electrical power measurements on my Agattu

10mph, The clamp uses a hall sensor that requires to be zeroed before use so I would suggest a best guess of about 13 A because of drift and the compounded inaccuracies due to the specifications of both instruments. Lacking measurements on this hill I used the gradient function on the link...

Electrical power measurements on my Agattu

Panasonic Gitane, 3 speed hub, 26" wheels. As in post # 10, I made up an extension between the underside of the battery plate and the positive wire, looping it up through the frame behind the battery moulding. Secured? the current probe to the frame with bailer twine, bubble wrap and masking...
