    Brexit, for once some facts.

While economics is a mystery to me - and every Chancellor of the Exchequer in living memory in my experience - if I were a German motor industry mogul facing a downturn which might necessitate cutbacks and staff layoffs, I'd prefer to avoid the wrath of the German people so any cuts would be to...

Looking to get an affordable bike with throttle

I agree with d8veh's post at #5, re security; also, post #2 by soundwave.....except for 'peddles'! Tom

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Due to a forthcoming Anglo-French family wedding, I have a houseful of French visitors today and over the weekend. Hearing how they view Britain's future is likely to be once out of the EU is quite alarming. One thing they identify immediately is that Europe will have no need of the London...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

0.99€ for a nicker at Stansted today..........if you're stupid enough! Let's get on with 'Brexit' by invoking Article 50 of the Lisbon treaty so we can enjoy better times economically. Would anyone like to hazard a guess as to when we will be genuinely able to say, 'Now we are demonstrably...

Is making a horse dance really an Olympic Sport?

It lasts far too long because it is jam-packed with stupid activities nowadays, euphemistically referred to as sport, that would never attract big crowds or fill stadiums on their own merits.:( It was ok in the early days in Greece when it was all about running, throwing, lifting, jumping...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

You're absolutely right paul20v but many of the correspondents do actually contribute to and in some cases, also initiate threads on various topics, some of which are bicycling-connected. If a thread is based on a topic in which you have no interest or has become boring, you don't need to open...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It would be reassuring to know that the country's future is in safe hands as we crawl toward 'freeing ourselves from the tyranny of EU oppression'.......I think that was how the 'Brexit' campaign was described at one point in a daily rag. Sadly, we have that chap by the name of Wayne Kerr...

    Why Derailleurs gears?

Got both and I like them both though I'd say the Nexus 8 transmission is better for general utility and leisure cycling. For more serious, longer-distance cycling with hills and a desire to maintain a high road speed while keeping fit or getting fitter, I'd probably choose derailleur. Tom

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It strikes me that this seemingly interminable thread has gone the way of Brexit, in that it is going nowhere and less and less people have any interest as the days and weeks go by. The PM and her government are floundering, unable or unwilling to initiate the process that the majority of those...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

After speaking to some people who know I was actively involved in the 'Remain' campaign in the eastern home counties, many who voted out are now rather worried by some of the events of recent weeks. There seems to be some kind of denial and a shifting of blame going on with many claiming they...

    Bike Locks....

I like the Litelok from what I have seen on their promotional videos but I couldn't quite grasp the bit about resistance to a cordless grinder/cutter. Surely a cutting disc would sever it fairly quickly? Certainly, the product would probably deter all but the most determined bike thief. Any...

    Woosh Karoo - heights

Koga certainly had a version, 'Feathershock', on their E special model several years ago and I found it really smoothed out the road roughness very nicely when I took one out on a fairly long test-ride. I have a feeling that Sparta might have used it too but I can't remember for certain. I...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

If Britain initiates the leave process, which should really have been done by now, the London financial centre will become a target for the French and Germans in particular. They will want to ensure Britain suffers for its actions and there is no good reason why London should remain the main...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

My feelings exactly Croxden! I really believe we haven't gone anywhere near far enough down the road of solar and tidal power. As a former nuclear power station engineer, I admire the technology and the safety measures built into those stations created by largely, (not entirely true), British...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Nicely constructed piece Dave and I can't see any argument to be had from either camp. The prospect has become steadily but surely less attractive by the day as people come to understand the degree of difficulty involved to achieve perhaps nothing, indeed possibly worsening our economic...

    New Gtech ebike

I must be missing something here as I just can't see the attraction in the Gtech bike. Granted, it's not a lot of money, (these days), but my gut instinct is that it's another of those triumphs of hype over substance. It's got to be a niche market proposition surely, as most of the...
