    My New Build

    Yes. I've bought stuff from them and been impressed with the service. Chinese 20" wheels are always 406mm, but it's just as well to check. I converted a Raleigh 20 that had 251mm rims and rim brakes. 45mm difference is massive. Unfortunately, I didn't realise the problem until the wheel was...

    Chain Query

    Some freewheels are very loud. Others are quiet. If loud ones go quieter, it's because they need attention, like lubrication. If you don't clean and lubricate a freewheel, dirt acuumulates between the motor and the gears, which causes drag on it. That makes the gears turn, which turns the chain...

    IIRC, Gocycle said the chain would last the life of the bike, but I guess it depends how much it gets used. It is a nice solution though - a lot cheaper and easier than a belt, and a lot cleaner. Those Gocycles go pretty well too. The motor is bespoke and tiny, but they can handle enough power...

    this is me

    Your weight, fitness, the hills you have, the distance you want to go, how much shopping or other stuff you want to carry and how hard you want to pedal all have a bearing on what sort of ebike you want to build. Bear in mind that you don't need expensive lightweight stuff when you have a...

    My New Build

    Did you notice the on/off power that I mentioned above? I don't get the problem with the rim. You asked for 406mm, they confirmed 406mm, 406 mm arrived, but you can't use it?

    Hydraulic brakes 2 pin sensors

    They're all over Aliexpress. The 2-pin ones have a red connector. I can't say which ones work the best. If you want branded ones, they're a lot more expensive than the Aliexpress ones and probably fake anyway...

    Brompton Blues

    I don't hate crank-motors. I use one about three times a week. I'd rather have an ebike with a crank-motor than a bike with no motor any day. They work, but not as good as hub-motors. If I do an object comparison, I'd say crank-motors are more expensive, give a worse ride, they're less...

    Hub-motors can out-perform crank-motors up hills. You can't generalise. Remember, the 250w Heinzmann cargo hub-motor system can drag 500kg up a 16% hill. Yours can't do that.

    Old photos

    I found an old SD card with literally thousands of my old ebike photos on it. Some of them were for projects I posted on here, and there were lots of other interesting ones too. Here's an ebike I spotted in the town centre. A couple of things stand out to me. It seems to have a cable operated...

    I guess it's one better than a front hub-motor, so it's not as bad as it could be.

    Help! Jorvick 24 trike / throttle

    Sometimes you can re-balance by leaving it on charge for a long time. I don't understand what your problem is. I'm totally confused. If you don't have a charger, how do you know that the battery has enough charge in it to work? It's really difficult to give specific advice. You need to charge...

    I'm going to bet that they say no, then recommend that you buy one of their ebikes, like the Subway, Vengeance or whatever they have in stock.

    My New Build

    9 times out of ten, I've done nothing to the settings, but since the police have started cracking down, I wanted mine to be completely legal, so set p4=1 and c4=3 gives 4 mph start assist plus throttle acts as a power boost to give instant level 5 when you press it, which saves a lot of messing...

    Help! Jorvick 24 trike / throttle

    When you leave a battery standing for a long time it can go out of balance because in many cases the BMS needs power to check whether the battery is still OK to give power. Sometimes, it takes the power from only one of the ten cell groups, so that one goes down to a level that prevents the...

    We hope that you're happy now. I'm sure you will be. If you're not happy with the KT controller, you can send it to me and I'll reimburse every expense associated with the purchase and shipping to me. I would never advise anybody to do anything that might put them in a detrimental situation, and...

    What we need is a confirmation statement on the forum enrolment page. As well as "I have read the terms....." there should be another tick box, "I promise not to make any posts until I confirm that I have checked my motor connector and it definitely reaches the line on the outer connector". Of...

    Swytch Max++ Rear wheel kit

    I don't want to tell you what to do. I just give advice from my own experience. Many people do all sorts of things with all sorts of bikes and say they're happy with the results, partly because of their blissful ignorance. The way I see it is that if you're going to do such a project, it's...

    Swytch Max++ Rear wheel kit

    You should always get a throttle with a KT controller. Remember, you can set it to be completely legal, and it's extremely useful in many circumstances. It's one of the best features of a KT system, and it doesn't make sense to omit it. Also, I always recommend the block connector versions of...
