    tyre pressure and punctures

Are the self-adhesive patches (the likes of Slime Skabs) any good? Just thinking they'd presumably save the need for chalk since you'd have no exposed adhesive.

Which bike from a choice of 3??

Hope you get enough of a break in the rain this weekend to get out and enjoy your new bike!

Which bike from a choice of 3??

The penny just dropped on what you might be asking here Donna - can you not just select "0" as the assistance level? I can on the Torque but I know the controllers are different.

Which bike from a choice of 3??

I'm not David but I can tell you that the manual is available in the "download" section on the Amps web site - try here. Can't help with your second question I'm afraid but hopefully having access to the manual will help you get to grips with charging etc.

Try this thread from Post #7 down for stuff from Suseka who's a reasonably new 705 SE owner.

    Bike insurance

But that's probably not comparing like with like. If you're happy with covering theft of your bike, the extension to the house policy will probably do you fine (although do check the conditions on it for things like theft away from home). A dedicated bike policy will usually cover theft/damage...

    Which ebco bike?

Glad you've found a bike that feels right for you - hope the wait's not too long so you can take advantage of summer while it's here!

    Mirrors

No idea how effective it is but I did notice this when I was looking around for a mirror. Seems a bit unfair that it's twice the price of one designed for flat bars but maybe it's a reflection of the numbers they can shift (drop being less common than flat bars these days).

Yes it does but I think D8veh is right that a torque sensor may not be the way to go for you. That said - I have a Wisper 705 Torque which is an example of something with a torque sensor and a throttle. It actually also has a cadence sensor so you can "bypass" the torque sensor and go to...

As your initial shortlist is made up of bikes you can see locally, you could go in to the shop and ask about the throttle operation on each - how it's set up and whether it can be changed through a setting on the controller if the default is for it to only work up to 6kph. If they have other...

That's a good point. CFS affects people differently and Claire may well find it easier to adapt to using the throttle to get going rather than pedal power - it may not feel 'natural' if you've been used to riding a bike previously but you'd probably get used to it very quickly.

    Mirrors

If you really can't cut the end off the grip for a bar-end mirror could you go for one of the ones that clamps round the bar further in? The Big Bear's bars do look as if you might have to bring it quite well towards the centre to find clear space but you can get ones with quite long stems that...

Happy to report that the Cateye was much more stable on my short run out today having tightened up that bolt. I didn't actually have any traffic behind me at any point but that's by the by!

As will a hub drive with a torque sensor - it's the pressure on the pedals that makes the assistance kick in so even if you find yourself in too high a gear you can crank up the assistance level and get a bit extra oomph for setting off. The gears on an ebike work exactly the same way as they...

Seems like a good idea - much easier than trying to manhandle any sort of bike into a flat!

A hub drive has the motor in one of the wheels (you get both rear and front wheel hub drives - another difference to contend with, I'm afraid!). A crank drive has a central motor - look for bulk around where the pedals go through the frame to identify a crank drive. They also go by the name "mid...

Hello, welcome! To get power as soon as you press down on the pedal (which will be the best help to get you going from a standstill) you're best off with a torque sensor. A cadence sensor needs maybe as much as half a rotation of the pedals before you get any assistance from the motor...

Winter safety. Dark nights, lights, tips and tricks.

For anyone who wants one the Kickstarter (which has about 30 hours to run as I type this) looks brilliant. You can pledge £65 for a jacket in one of five colours they're producing which is a 50% discount on the regular retail price. I almost wish I cycled at night! Contact them and suggest it...

    Mirrors

Yes, that's the one. It was the screw at the top of the arm (where the ball joint is) that was the major problem - floppier than Pinocchio with his strings cut!
