    Glazed brakes?

I think I might have glazed my rear brakes but before I start taking anything apart I thought I'd just ask the more experienced folk here whether that's the most likely explanation for my brakes squealing and whether there's anything else I should be looking out for. I've got a Wisper 705 with...

6ft4 tall 23 stone which bike

Thanks! I've had it less than a week so we're still making friends but I'm happy with my choice and it's lovely to be out on a bike again - it feels less like exercise and more like getting a bit of your childhood back! I'd say take your time choosing and try out as many as you can before you...

6ft4 tall 23 stone which bike

Hello Graham, welcome! Might be a bit too small to see on my avatar photo so I'll include the file - there's a 72 on the cycle route marker just above my bike (the Hadrian's Wall route, I believe) so this is the sort of view you can expect. It's a beautiful area and although the route is on...

newbie looking for recommendations and advice

Hello Crystal, welcome! Forgive my ignorance - I know nothing about trailers but I'm curious as to why a rear hub might not be suitable? I suspect your budget rules out a crank drive, my impression is that those start around the £2K mark.

Help wanted from Ebiker living in Telford

I've got the 705 Torque which is the same as yours other than the frame. I can pedal it with the assistance level set to zero well up the gear range so it's not "just the way ebikes are". Decent after-sales service is one of the reasons to buy a reputable brand so don't hesitate to do as David...

Fantastic, definitely put a smile on my face! :)

    wisper 905 Torque display

I'm sure David has sorted you out Alan but in case it provides a quick reference for anyone else: a single press on the power button -the one with the open circle with the little vertical line at the top- will toggle between total mileage (the manual uses the term odometer, I think) and trip. A...

What do you think is best for me?

I find this assertion fascinating. I don't consider myself remotely fit. I have some nerve issues caused by MS that limit my walking range to about 20-25 minutes. One of the reasons I wanted a bike was that I was conscious of the fact that the longer I'm not doing significant walking I'm losing...

    New Wisper 705 Torque

Afraid not - I tried a Batribike, a Raleigh Motus and a couple of Wispers. I suspect there isn't a perfect solution - if you find a bike that will do what you want it to do and feels comfortable yiu should probably go for it and not worry too much about what might have been!

    New Wisper 705 Torque

Hi Steve Nice and smooth on the flat. I could pedal without any assistance at all if I wanted but generally opted for assistance level 1 and a higher gear because that generally felt very comfortable. Because you get assistance as soon as you press on the pedal, it felt very easy to set off...

What do you think is best for me?

The bigger capacity battery (575Wh) on the Wisper Torque (here's the 905) states a range of 75 miles - I don't know what level of assist that's based on but I think the torque sensor gives a better range than a cadence sensor (since the manual says that switching it into "F" (cadence) mode will...

    Hi From the Highlands!

Did you have the Steve Austin doll with the peel-back skin on his forearm and the "bionic" eye? :) (we're dating ourselves here, I suspect!) I sympathise - I had to travel to York (over 100 miles) and I suspect wild Scotland is even harder than wild England! I did try a couple of bikes locally...

    Hi From the Highlands!

Hello Steve - welcome! I'm less biased than David ;) but I've just bought the 705 Torque (the step-through version of the one you're considering). I test rode both the Torque and the SE and they do feel quite different so I'd encourage you to try whatever you're considering, even if you have to...

    New Wisper 705 Torque

Many thanks to folk who offered opinion and advice on the forum. After test riding a few different things, I bought a Wisper 705 Torque and took it out for a first spin this morning. First impressions are that it coped very well with the Northumberland hill I gave it, nice smooth delivery of...

    So many decisions!

Sorry to hijack the thread - do you have a rear rack that's rated for the weight of your e-bike Kirstin?

    Newbie with a headache!

Sorry, no experience of either of those. My dad got one of the smaller-wheeled Byocycle Chameleon bikes fairly recently and he seems happy with the build quality etc. He had a small problem with power cut out but got technical advice over the phone with no hassle - it was just a contacts issue...

    So many decisions!

I'm another one who's going to say "try some out". I've only just bought mine (in fact I don't have it yet - should be tomorrow!) and having test ridden a few I can say they really do all feel different and what suits one person won't necessarily suit another. Sheffield hills are going to...

Complete Novice, needs to learn fast. Can you help

An electric bike that's just for fun sounds like a great Christmas gift! Maybe you could even take your daughter on it at weekends etc. I think you can take a non-folder on overground services out of peak hours, can't you? So you could even head to parks etc without doing busy roads to start...

Complete Novice, needs to learn fast. Can you help

Is there safe storage at either end of your journey? Bike lockers that you can access with a key or through one of the card systems that seem to be getting more popular? It might seem extravagant to think of two bikes but it might well be much more practical to have a bike at each end of the...
