CWAH report the theft in Paris. My local Police station often sells off 50-100 bikes that have been stolen but not reported so they don't know who the owners are. You never know, your bike may get abandoned somewhere. Also, I am always suspicious of people who have an electric bike but no charger.

Anybody remember Reginald Molehusband? At least I think his name was something like that. There was a regular advert on TV showing him doing a reverse park. Then when boxed junctions came out, there was that woman who was always on TV getting pinched. Why do we not have road safety adverts now...

I am not too sure that having the weight high over the rear wheel is all that much of a problem. Motorcyclists carry pillion passengers and also in Holland etc., it is quite common to see people sitting sideways on the rear carrier.

My main point is that because cyclists are often accused of not paying 'Road Tax', by naming it a pollution tax graduated to emissions, we should escape some of the opprobrium.

I hear a rumour that they will soon cease to issue the round tax discs because the Police can easily check all the details from the number plate. Would this not also be a good time to rename the Vehicle Excise Duty to Vehicle Pollution Tax?

Part of the problem is that these ASL's began appearing without any explanation from the Councils etc. A notice alongside the first few explaining them would have helped. I bet many car drivers are unaware that they must stop before them.
