    eBrompton Build

Getting rid of the spare cables and visible cable joins I had originally bought low rise carbon bars, but decided that leaning forward Manx Missile racing mode was not my riding style so bought some higher rise carbon bars (£30) which would provide a more upright riding position. The riser bars...

    smallest viable battery..

I have tried a couple of different types of those hoverboard batteries, a 4Ahr one and a 4.4Ahr on my electric Brompton. One battery has developed a fault, it cuts out at around 34V and is low capacity. They work, although at the price (circa £50) clearly they are not using the best cells and...

    Which E-bike should I buy?

For a UK road legal eBike the electric assist must stop at 25Kmph\15.5mph. But you can exceed that speed by pedaling hard (if your fit enough) or your going downhill.

    Which E-bike should I buy?

Not road legal in the UK, the rated power limit for the motor is 250W. So clearly a 750W motor is a bad choice for a road legal eBike.

Please keep it simple, regarding what I need Thanks

Indeed. Unfortunatly a lot of current legislation, and not just for eBikes, is soft regulation. No doubt the politicians think they have achieved lots and earned their wages by introducing particular rules and regulations, but then they do zero to enforce them. What CycloTricity are up to...

Buying an eBike today. Please adviseeee!

It is with Barclays, but its changing in the next few months as Barclays are moving out of the Home insurance markets and passing their business to someone else. What the terms and conditions will be with the new setup I do not know, I have not had the policy renewal.

Buying an eBike today. Please adviseeee!

Unfortunatly, its not the sale of such bikes that is illegal, yet ! Although you could question the morals of a buisiness that is openly selling eBikes that the business must realise will be used on UK roads etc.

Buying an eBike today. Please adviseeee!

And whilst insurance is often not mentioned, for my eBikes I do have third party liability insurance, assuming the eBikes are legal etc. Not sure I would be so keen to speed around on an illegal eBike knowing I would have to personally fund the cost of any injuries I might cause someone.

"Conversion kits to blame in 40% of ebike fires, says London Fire Brigade"

Thanks for the correction. So in New York, how many so called 'battery fire deaths' have there been compared to the number of eBikes in use ?

"Conversion kits to blame in 40% of ebike fires, says London Fire Brigade"

Most interesting. Wonder if they will have the almost inevitable poll of Motorists with the question; "Do you think eBikes are a good thing ?"
