    Leaving the EU

In the event that trade tariffs are introduced, clearly we would do the same. Bearing in mind the EU sell us a great deal more than we sell them, we would likely do very well from tariff income. I don't believe for a moment that the car manufacturers would exit the UK to set up shop elsewhere...

    Leaving the EU

Hmm! I'm not generally given to political threads, however, my very strong feelings on this important matter force me to scribe my thoughts. There are of course many perspectives one might take on the EU. I won't attempt to summarise them all here. Europe's great, I do a great deal of...

    new battery

Sounds like a plan RR. Would you share the details of what firm you used. What sort of costs are involved? Do they change the BMS or just the cells?

    new battery

Hi Gray198, I've not tried them myself but a couple of potential issues seem apparent. They are claiming 'left over stock'. As such, I wonder how long they have been sitting around. In addition, they are only offering a 3 month warranty and their reason for this is because they are not making a...

    UK government EAPC guide update

It does seem quite remarkable, that after so many regulatory shenanigans, the DfT have produced such a simple document, albeit a somewhat ambiguous one. Seems like a bit of a 'win' for us ebikers! I guess more detailed info will be forthcoming in due course?

    Pedelec Police

Sussex Police use Freego Eagles and Wispers. I often see them about these days.

Remarkable, I wonder how many I should order?

    Drink drive

My understanding is that, provided you are riding a 'legal' ebike, then it is a bicycle and not classed as a mechanically propelled vehicle. There is the offence of drunk in charge of a bicycle, but I don't believe the road traffic act applies. Of course, if you are riding like an idiot then I'm...

    Freego - which motor?

I believe they did have the same motor, but the 2015 model Eagle has a new sine wave controller and motor, and as such may have the edge, but the Martin Sport does have the 20 a/hour battery, a useful bonus. The M Sport also has a new frame for 2015. You can check the latest specs on the Freego...

Best Ebike mileage.....on ONE battery charge

Furthest I have been is 62 miles in a day on one charge with no top ups. 16a/h Freego Eagle. There was still a bit left in the battery, but my bum was trashed, not to mention all the associated aches and pains. Most of the ride was using medium assist and putting in regular pedalling effort all...

    Water Ingress???

Hi Geoff, how do you like your Martin Sport, I like big batteries and wondered what sort of range you get with the 20 a/h.

    Water Ingress???

Hi Steve. I had exactly the same symptoms when my controller failed after getting wet when I got caught in a deluge of rain. Even after drying everything out, like yours, it would go for perhaps 20 metres then cut out again. It is my conjecture,(as I'm no electrician), that the water ingress has...

    Freego Hawk Punctures

I used to get a lot of punctures using the Kenda "puncture resistant" tyres on my Eagle, mostly from Blackthorne hedge cuttings on the road. I fitted Marathon Plus tyres around a year ago and have not had a single puncture since. They run really smooth as well. Of course, I have tempted fate...

    Warranty

I've had my Freego Eagle 3.5 years now. On the very few occasions I have wanted advice or parts, Freego have provided prompt and excellent service. My bike is still working very well and I've had no problems. When the time comes to upgrade I will very likely buy Freego again.

    Potential Freego Eagle buyer

Yes indeed, My longest one day ride on one charge is 63 miles. The bike was still going when I got home, and didn't cut out. That includes some hills. With medium pedalling and medium assist, it will certainly do more on a new 16a/h battery,. I have done many trips of around 45 miles, and...

    Freego battery Replacement

I would guess there is insufficient value in the casing and electronics to warrant the costs of re-cycling it. Best do as Trex says. I have the same bike and battery, 3 years 1 month and still going. Range is reduced a bit but I can still get 35-40 miles using medium assist.

Difference in manufacturer speed cutoff points

Freego Eagle, hub drive. Full power to 15.5 mph, although current continues to be drawn on a reducing basis up to 17.5 mph. No assistance at all at higher speeds. It makes for a smooth transition and I can't really tell when the power has gone other than observing when the current draw is zero...

    Bike Cameras

I have an F9 Mini camera. Cost £40 including internal battery, charger, and various brackets. I've tested it many times and it seems to work really well. The battery life is around 1.5 hours continuous filming. For the money, it's brilliant.
