    'Bike' car

Surely a double cab truck would suit best, preferably with a canvas cover over the back. That way you have lots of height, easy loading access and 4 seats with all the trimmings.

    Battery Sizes

I'm a fan of big batteries. I have a 16 a/h which is great for fun outings, but when this one packs up I'll be going for 20a/h's or more. I only use the bike for fun, and long range is what makes it fun as I can access a much wider radius from home to do some exploring. I guess if I was...

    advice on tyres?

I recently fitted a pair of Marathon Plus jobbies. I too have been plagued with punctures in the past, especially in late Spring when the hedge cutting machines are out and about. I must have had around 20 punctures over two and a half years whilst I had the original Kenda tyres on. I've had...

    Battery shape/size question?

I guess two or three times a week mostly, dependent on weather and the like. If I do less than 10 miles, I usually don't re-charge immediately afterwards. Anything over 10 miles and I charge straight after using the bike. I try to keep the battery around the 70% to 90% charge state all the...

    Battery shape/size question?

If you look after your battery it should last well over two years. I have the 16A/H on my Freego Eagle, and whilst it has lost some capacity over time, it will still do 40 miles plus no problem. It is 2 years and 9 months old and has done around 3350 miles.

    New "Flat-Less" Schwalbe Marathon-Plus Tyres for 2014

I have my Marathon Plus's fitted now and they certainly roll better than the OEM Kenda's. No punctures so far!

    Punctures

You are right as usual Flecc. I only ever use feather edge patches. The rubber solution is not a glue as such, but it performs a chemical vulcanizing process. The key factors I have found are: once the rubber solution is applied it must be allowed to dry, (usually this takes about 90 seconds)...

    Tyres

Many thanks chaps. I was going to go for the City Jets for no other reason than they look like motorcycle tyres and low rolling resistance in my main priority. However, the City Jets only have level 3 puncture resistance, and seeing as I have had many punctures, I have capitulated and ordered a...

    Tyres

Morning all. Rear tyre gave up the ghost last night with a big bulge. It's done over 3000 miles so not too bad. I am eyeing up the Schwalbe City Jet with kevlar puncture strip thing as a replacement. They only seem to be available in 26" by 1.5. But they are only £11 each. I see the Marathon...

    Bit of a bummer.....

Hi Funklyn, I did wonder where you had got to, I thought you were busy with your new business. So sorry to hear you've not been well, but I for one will be thinking of you and sending good thoughts. Godspeed to you, in all your endeavours. XX

    "Cheating"

I had a puncture on the front wheel last night on the way back from the pub. After midnight, middle of the countryside, two miles from home! It was pitch black, so I elected not to attempt a tube change, especially as I was a little worse for wear, so pushed the bike home. Inevitably, a hot...

    Ebike - long range

For me, long range would be my first preference as opposed to having a slightly better rear mech and chainset. It would be great to do around 60 miles on full power. I'm not too fussed about higher spec gear, it's always a case of diminishing returns and my cheap gear works just fine. If it...

    Another mid motor announced

Hmmm, I see they make reference to front hub motors but no mention of rear hubs, which are my favourite. I would hesitate to accept their findings, I would suggest, certainly for the elder ab-initio e-cyclists, that hub drives will remain popular as they are less demanding on the rider. I'm not...

    Ebikes are fun!

I have always referred to it as the 'Stupid Grin', because you just can't stop smiling. It's a clear sign that having fun is good for you in so many ways. I have also heard the term "Cheshire Cat Syndrome".:)

My bike enters the twilight zone

Clearly we need a range of electronic counter-measures. You need to rip up some baking foil into strips. You can then deploy them at the crossroads thus nullifying the government death ray!

    Banbury Frank - deregistered?

So, was Frank pushed, or has he left of his own accord? Frank has long been a great contributor and is clearly very knowledgable about all things E. I do hope Frank will return, he is needed.

Update to the London Bike Show

I only saw the A2B stand, I should have looked harder!

    Excel Bike Show

I think a big bag is a very useful item at any show Clockwise. There were a few folk handing out bike holiday brochures, but I didn't spend too long in there. The crumpet was much better in the motorcycle show!!

    Excel Bike Show

Having attended the Motorcycle show today, I popped across for a gander at the Cycle Show in the opposite hall. Some very expensive hardware was on offer, £240 for a front wheel!! Some very nice bikes, but I don't think they would last more than a few miles on the roads around here. Very strong...

    Action Camera

Hi Jim. I also purchased the F9 mini camera. I'm no video buff but it seems to work very well. I have tested it on the bike several times using the supplied handlebar bracket and it makes good videos with good detail. Takes pretty good stills too. If I was going to nit pick, the exposure is a...
