    Free public battery charging scheme

I wouldn't disagree with any of that. Car batteries have sophisticated pre-conditioning and cooling systems to control temperature when fast charging and the charge rate is adjusted according to the state of charge. I don't think you can make any comparison with ebike batteries other than to...

    Free public battery charging scheme

Chargers don't add miles, instead they add watt-hours. In that context, can you explain again which charger you have and what it does? Also, where do you find a place to plug in your charger? In 15 years of ebiking, I've never passed anything like that. Surely, you'd have to divert into town...

KT-LCD8S Screen Symbol (and power stopped)

The controller's cpu monitors the 5v on the brake signal wire. The default is on, as that wire is held at 5v by a pull-up resistor. When the CPU sees 0v on that wire, it sends the code for that symbol to the LCD's CPU, which puts it on the display. That 5v brake signal wire would only be 0v if...

    Free public battery charging scheme

So that thing is approximately the size of a Hailong battery without its leads and adapter, and it weighs about 2.5kg with cables and adapter, compared with about 3.5kg for a 56 cell 52v 13Ah battery that you can swap in about 10 seconds. I can't see what the advantage of your idea is.

    Gear cable rerouting

On my one, it's about 6mm. There's a slight swelling of the BB of maybe 1mm, so if you have a thin BB tube, you might get 7mm. Try it, and if there's insufficient clearance, which will probably be the case, run the cables in an outer around the motor. That's notexactly a big problem to do.

    Argos E-plus Problem

Now we reach the end of the story. I got the three-mode controller mentioned above. Now it's installed and working. Obviously every connector that could be wrong was wrong, so quite a bit of soldering. The connector for the motor is a 6-pin one - 3 phase wires and 3 speed sensor wires. I can't...

    brakes

In 15 years of ebiking, I'be never cleaned my brakes with anything. Once, when I was putting in new pads, i took the opportunity to clean all the crud out, then I put a bit of silicone grease around the pistons. From time to time on various bikes, I had groaning noises, especially after rain...

    Help! TranzX BL15 Battery

The Royal Mail and some other couriers class lithium batteries as dangerous goods and they won't touch them. They don't open the box to see what's inside, and generally don't x-ray them. I know people, who sent batteries as bicycle spares and descriptions like that; however, if the battery got...

    Free public battery charging scheme

20a 58v charger is a bit of a beast. How much does it weigh along with its leads, plugs and adaptors?

    Yamaha PW-ST Motor Jerky

If I were you, I'd send it in and ask them to do a full repair and bearing replacement. It'll probably cost around £400, but you'll get back a motor that's as good as new if not better. When you have these sort of motors, you have to expect to have to do repairs like that. Yours has probably had...

New owner of a whisper wayfarer step through

Before anything, lift each wheel off the ground and spin it by hand to check that they both spin freely. Your bike's motor controller uses speed control, so each level on the LCD gives the same power up to a different speed. Let's say that level 1 has a speed limit of 8 mph and level 2 has 10...

    Exciting New Project

I tried to buy that battery, but it wouldn't let me order. It said that it doesn't ship to UK from Germany. Their ordering system is very quirky. Sometimes I can order and sometimes I can't.

    Exciting New Project

You guys are very sharp. It was £120. I'll fit the I will remove the inner chain ring to simplify the arrangement. there won't be a front derailleur, but at least I would have the option to hook the chain onto the inermediate ring if ever my battery went flat. I'll line it all up first and see...

    Battery Fires

Most of what you guys say is true, but there's always the chance that a battery had a wire out of place or something like that when it was manufactured. When you look inside a lot of batteries, you can see the difference. Some are very well organised and tidy, others are all over the place...

    Help! TranzX BL15 Battery

It's going to be a real problem to send it. Most couriers won't touch them, and those that do require special labelling.

    More Seizures

You can change its mode of operation with P09 and P10. 7 or 8 years ago, it was quite common that when you bought an ebike online, the throttle was provided in a box so that you could choose whether to fit it or not.

They've just copied me. It was about 6 years ago that I showed how to do that with any bike.
