I took it as a step (not all steps are forward) towards an 'anti theft' marketing hype...
However.
Unlike serial numbered frames & motors, batteries are a consumable item and will need to be changed.. so maybe its a method of ensuring that there is only one source of supply for your new...
Maybe..
I'll ask the wife later :p
Edit..
Just asked the wife and she says that the comment made by mountainsport is true, however whilst she does indeed have the last word... it seldom means that she gets the end result she wanted. (blue moons and flying pigs spring to mind )
I know of one that has a 'supply and hire' business not far from me, if its that one then I wholeheartedly concur as on previous visits I've seemed to spend more than I intended (got very good value .. just seemed to upgrade on what I originally thought I wanted when I went in..lol)
A question arises...

My folding bike conversion is coming along nicely.. but a point arises that I'd sooner attend to now rather than after the build is complete.
Looking at the chain from above...
I did think about it..... but lost that thought when I started to think about chain alignment (will make a separate topic about that in a mo).
Having returned to the thought, I'm 100% not going as my credit card can't stand another spanking :o
Stranger and stranger, the Carlisle 'shop' is one of the Andersons group with branches / showrooms in Carlisle, Dumfries, Kilmarnock and Stranrear.
They have set up a web site.. EcoPedalPower
In Scotland, wheel-clamping on private land is illegal. It was banned by the case of Black v Carmichael 1992 SCCR 709, when wheel-clamping was found to constitute extortion and theft.
