    Throttle de-restriction

I imagine it probably will be possible, but bear in mind that throttle-only with no pedalling will reduce battery charge to zero in a very short range indeed. The mistake I made with my old Juicy was to apply throttle I didn't need, and its range was usually reduced as a result - 10 miles or so...

KTM or Cube? Bosch or Panasonic?

I've never had regen braking on any of my bikes, but from what I've read here, it's a waste of money: it reduces in effectiveness as you learn to brake less, and the cash is better spent on improving the quality of other components.

    Forum link broken in header

Hi mod The "Forum" link (between "Electric Bike Guides" and "About") seems to have an incorrect link: /www.pedelecs.co.uk?p=376 This results in a 404 not found error. Feel free to delete this post once fixed.

Looking to build my own bike to replace Woosh Sirocco CD.

I believe the Bosch system records settings changes, so even if you return it back to the default, a technician can tell. I don't know about the King Meter, but it's worth being aware that some electronic kit can report on you!

    Security, How to do it?

Do you mean for the first use? Personally, I would. My approach is to do a series of little journeys early in the battery's lifetime to work your way down to 10-20% charge (small distances means that if you get down to nothing, you don't have far to pedal back home). Then charge it back up again...

    Flykly smart wheel on kickstarter

Hope it works out. Not sure why their 'hacker edition' is more expensive, though - if they want a software/hardware eco-system to develop around it, the tools need to be given away cheaply or for free. I wonder too whether it would be more cost effective to drop the 'charges itself' thing -...

    Fitness e-bike - please help :)

Yes, I agree. Doing the same course but on a slightly different lower rating as time goes on will increase fitness levels. On that basis, Bosch Classic displays might be better - they have 12 levels of assistance. I have this on my Ave XH-3 (2012 build). Most people don't need such fine-grained...

    Fitness e-bike - please help :)

I'm not familiar which bikes have it fitted (or when new ones will be available) but Bosch's new Nyon system allows for a BlueTooth heart rate monitor to communicate with the central display: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/bosch-nyon-performance-system-sat-nav-for-2015.15491/ Of...

    Is my Kalkhoff performing right?

Aha, these people are not far from you (50 miles or so), and they do Kalkhoffs :) http://www.bikehigher.co.uk/buy-an-electric-bike

    Is my Kalkhoff performing right?

If I were you, I'd look into where my local Kalkhoff dealers were based, and see if the bike could be taken in. I doubt asking someone to try the bike on the road for two minutes would be chargeable - and they would be able to provide the voice of experience. If there is a problem, they will be...

Are we ever going to get our Stevens (Bosch) bikes?

Dear me, I'd have cancelled it after a couple of months. I admire your patience, though I see you have a KTM to tide you over!

    ConhisMotor - 48 volt 1000 watt PROBLEM

Try wiggling some connectors too, when you would expect power to be delivered, to see if it comes back to life. You might be lucky and find the issue is just a wire/connector that is at fault.

What is your experience of the KTM Macina Action?

Thanks Col. I'm 6'1" with a ~33" inside leg. I tend to take larger bikes, and recently was recommended an extra large Scott MTB. If it helps, it seems Wheelies are willing to authorise up to £2150 (though of course the insurance company gets a discount, 17% in this case).

Safer cycling? Don't get a helmet and cross red light

Your Newtonian mechanics may be sound (I'm not qualified to say) but the scientific method specifically requires claims to be peer-reviewed. If the science is as obvious as you say, there simply must be papers out there that support this view, and contradict the others. This is how...

Safer cycling? Don't get a helmet and cross red light

I'm not a statistician, but I don't think we can extrapolate from that data that helmets make no difference. Even if all cyclists killed on the road in the UK are wearing one, it does not take into account the cyclists who were involved in an accident but survived, nor the types of injuries that...

Claiming for real replacement value of accident-damaged bike?

Thanks d8veh, good idea. In the absence of anyone knowing how to argue for a better settlement (perhaps on the basis of loss of warranty) I will do that in the coming week. Has anyone here been involved in an accident involving their bike, and claimed on the third party? (Aside: I was at...

    Hub motor making horrendous noise!

There's a few experts hereabouts who might be able to further advise if you post clear, high-res photos of the inside of the motor.
