    Brexit, for once some facts.

Agreed but if Greece could devalue currency they,d attract tourists ( forgetting migrant issue ffor a moment) and be in a much better position than austerity measures. I just don't understand how any system could work expecting a wealthy country like Germany to sacrifice its living standard...

Not sure about that .. Athens riots are mire or less attributable to eu sanctions, its end game of bad management by Greece ; Germany and EU.. Would they be happening if Greece was outside EU, hypothetical I suppose. It does highlight a few things tho. A) Greeks refusal to change and bad...

Ok it wasn't about length of posts. I withdraw my apology, it was your predictable irrelevant rambling I was referring to.

Flecc Its that size after billions written off and billions given. Athens was almost a no go area last year with troops on streets throwing tear gas at ordinary people " rioting" about austerity measures imposed by eu...??? Oldgoaner. Fair comment. Shouldn't have said it. Apologies. BTW look at...

How do you prevent Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain going bankrupt ?? Were it not for Germany they all would be ! (Financial world even has a term for it. PIGS of Europe) Ps I was referring to length of posts not content.

Sorry Flecc, that is nonsense. Greece has had almost insurmountable problems since loosing ability to revalue currency. Other stuff is almost incidental. ( apart from their view of tax, which is at best bizzarre) Got a mate running a businesss in Kos. ( Its why I was there) Asked him about tax...

Yes obviously world market activities effect our fiscal position but we can respond to them, by devalueing if necessary. Greece cant, neither can any other countries within eu, and its exactly why mentioned countries ate still in recession. How can Greece compete with Getmany on equal valued...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

15 years ago BBC, many so called experts were urging Uk to adopt euro. Some ( but not many) said " hang on a minute , how are we going to attract business if we cant devalue our currency when struggling. The Greeks, the Spanish etc knew this fact but were bought of with short term payments. (...

Perhaps you should base yoour view of Europe as it is now. Go stay in Greece, Spain , France and drive around place rather than base opinion on what you think uk was like pre eu.. As for posting to inform ,educate others that's bestowing a position of better knowledge, experience than other...

I,ve felt from start its a foredrawn conclusion we will be staying by fair means or fowl, but either way its given folk chance to at least consider problems within eu. ( and uk if we do leave) I do think its almost impossible to consider stay/ leave without bringing in your own...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

So your view of eurotopia is based on a private event 55 years ago ??? Yes h&s was not important but why assume it was better in Europe ? This is a microcosm of forum in general. Folk express opinions and then they get blockbustered by same folk , not expressing their own opinion but knocking...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't think you have to be part of a country / organisation to be united with it. I cant think of many issues where for better or ( usually worse) we have not stood united with USA. To my mind I simply dont want uk to be part of and linked to a failing united Europe, which in my opinion it...

They read Herr Flecc and Oldgroaner Merkel on here. Clarksons books are very well written and entertaining. No matter what your view of him is he,s a very clever bloke. Unlike talentless Evans.

Couldn't really live there without but locals spoke a mixture of Catalan, Spanish and French with a very strong accent. It isn't school French. By the way the locals were fantastic . Really friendly. I think we have this image of eu where all is fine. It isn't. France, Spain ( which I know well)...

This thread was supposed to be about facts. We,ve had everything from ice age migrants to Franco Prussian war, with common theme been UK is responsible for all bad and EU all the good. Really think folk ate discrediting goid points with almost ludicrous ones..Yes UK has enjoyed economiic...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Well I do see that some posters are extremely well informed and well read but I suspect a little misinformed. Attributing UK recent ressurgence ( from around 79 I,d guess??) to European input is at best tenuous. I suspect a change in government doctrine, oil revenue and a healthy finacial...

Oldgroaner Fantastic post but what on earth has any if that got to do with justifying handing control over to EU.?? What's your reasoning? 80% of new laws are now from EU. Wether good or bad is irrelevant. Fact I we are playing a lesser part in their origin. Why do you wish to be governed from...

I,ve quoted one already. Cameron wanted to change immigration process and could not. His cabinet agreed changes but Brussels did not.
