    Cycle or die?

I was 115kg at Christmas, and still 115kg despite cycling 400 miles on my e-bike since. I'm 56... and spent some time in Hospital... but, hey, you've got me truly trumped. Oh well, it seemed a good argument at the time. Humble pie eaten. FitBit's are still s**t, though.

    Cycle or die?

Oh yes, I do get that. My body tells me when I'm taking things too far. Available technology - devices like FitBit - I'm sure do hold promise, but at the moment they seem to me to be a fairly erratic and useless technology in telling the truth about what's really going on.

    Cycle or die?

So, bypassing the frivolous albeit humorous comments here... d8veh has a resting heartrate of 53bpm and works it up to 150bpm... according to his FitBit. Assuming d8veh's Fitbit is maybe even as much 20% inaccurate, who cares? He won't kill himself. d8veh's resting heartrate is 53bpm. My...

    Cycle or die?

I'd genuinely love to believe that. But how do you KNOW the measurements your FitBit is giving you are even remotely true? Unless you buy and wear two or three simultaneously and compare them all together, you'll never know. Past published tests where this has been tried doesn't bode well. It'd...

    Cycle or die?

That's your reality d8veh. It's not mine. I'm not an unthinking dunderhead either. I'm also a technical person and continually assessing measurements. I even used to teach others in "thinking for themselves"... but, for me, both my FitBits (and other devices too) appeared hideously inaccurate -...

    Cycle or die?

Same here. And very conscious of my own excessive weight... I’ve had two different models of FitBit, and various cardio monitor devices, and 'phone fitness apps... and all have been horrendously inaccurate. There is a credible news article on the internet somewhere where they strapped maybe 10...

New Halfords Carrera Vengence E Bike £800

Phylion do their standard SF-06 in 8.8Ah, 11.6Ah and 14Ah (http://phylion.com/index.php?g=portal&m=list&a=index&id=12). It depends how many of the 6 available connection slots are connected, dependant on the BMS board fitted. The Suntour Phylion SF-06 battery (eg Crossfire) has them all...

New Halfords Carrera Vengence E Bike £800

I don't know - but I'd guess it's in the moulding that forms the bottom part of the dock, the part where the battery fits into. Phylion make different lengths of bracket and sizes of dock to accommodate different sizes of controllers even though the battery remains the same.

New Halfords Carrera Vengence E Bike £800

Yes... except that the Greenway battery has Joycube (a Phylion trademark) stamped all over it, and Halfords openly state their batteries are made by Phylion in their own specs. The older mid-sized packs used to be 10.4Ah using Samsung pinkies (I've opened one), but the current standard Phylion...

New Halfords Carrera Vengence E Bike £800

This Vengence Halfords bike uses the same Phylion SF-06/s battery pack as their Carrera Vulcan/Crossfire, all-be-it not the Suntour specific system. It's also the same Phylion SF-06 battery pack that the Greenway Cross-City bike uses, and of the many owners/riders of that bike on this forum, no...

    Carrera Crossfire ebike Battery Charger

I'd agree. The output is actually 43.5v. I doubt the boards are repurposed per se (see http://www.wxsans.com/). Wuxi Sans who make chargers and rebadge them for almost everybody are clearly capable of (and do make) far better, it's just trying to make a charger for little money... corners cut...

Is the ebike market moving upwards?

I've seen a couple of 1000-watt conversion hub-drives on my local roads (naughty), and a Kalkhoff Integrale Speed Pedelec on a NCN cycle route... we stopped for a brief chat. He was very chuffed at his new £3500+ acquisition, boasting of it's 28mph top speed, and totally oblivious to the fact it...

    Carrera Crossfire ebike Battery Charger

If the battery has done 40 miles, the charger LED should go red to show the battery is charging. The common cause of the Wuxi/Sans Electronic/Phylion/Joycube 42-volt charger (as used by Halfords, Greenway, and tons of other ebikes - charger part SSLC084V42xx or variant) not charging and showing...

    New Cyclamatic

I'm not disagreeing with you flecc, or anyone else here. The point really is that, I suppose, the market is changing as we speak.. That growth has sparked an interest from the "big money men" keen to turn a profit. I doubt his will remain a cottage industry. All I'm really saying is that the...

    New Cyclamatic

I admit I know f-all about e-bikes, other than I own and ride two. It's not the current titchy e-bike market you need to worry about - it's about financing, which I would I argue, I know far more about than you. Do a full companies search on, for example. the financiers, backers and suppliers to...

    New Cyclamatic

I don't doubt that David at Amps is passionate - even obsessive - about the e-bike market - and I understand why you would defend him/them. But to revel in a win over another equally passionate member is stupid and unprofessional. And to laugh - even gloat - of a win over a competitor in the...

    New Cyclamatic

I'm retired. I'm sitting pretty with a good pension, so in truth I really don't care. You may be ignoring the threats to your business and laughing now. Lets see if you're still laughing and "love this business" in 5 years time!

    New Cyclamatic

I'm really not quite sure what you mean by that... I'm presuming you mean I'm naïve? You really do need to study the fascinating Greenway model to understand that there are businesses far bigger than yours that can (IMHO) undercut and flatten yours... provided it proves lucrative enough! It's...

    New Cyclamatic

My criticism is not aimed specifically at Amps... other than David at Amps is clearly revelling here in his ability to supply e-bikes to a County (town) where Whoosh reside. My criticism is I feel perfectly valid... Essex Council have bought e-bikes outside their local County boundaries when...
