Help! Bike for semi-specialised use - purchase advice

OK, but if there are any problems with the bike during the warranty period you would have a good claim given Leon cycles says it is ideal for riding on the beach. https://fb.watch/nPAs7-lwgI/ I do take the point that riding on the beach will limit the life of the electrics on the bike, was...

Bafamg mid drive - where to buy

Don't think you'll get much cheaper than that - my BBS02B with 48V20Ah battery and P850C was £600 off ebay - I would check AliExpress and topbikekit as well

The 250w figure is a manufacturers nominal rating - effectively saying that motor can run at 250w without overheating. In reality the peak power (up hills)that legal motors can run at is much more than that. I can quite understand people sticking to the 250w nominal legal limit - what would...

Looks nice 1*10 gears ? Will a 10 speed cassette fit on the rear hub ? (On my Bafang rear hub it said up to 9 speed cassette)

    Help choosing an e-bike please

Yes - just had a look at the Woosh link - I think the Woosh algorithm has a finer resolution, so just a few very steep metres shows as the max gradient whereas the mapometer one measures the max gradient over a longer distance (I've had that before) - that elevation rise looks fine for an e-bike...

At your weight and % gradients , I think you'll be fine , but I would say get a decent size battery if you are going to do a lot of hilly riding, maybe at least 500Wh if possible - you get more power with a fuller battery !

    Help choosing an e-bike please

just checked that route - think it maxes out at 10% - should be ok if 95kg with not too much pedal power - maybe Woosh Rambletta or Wisper 706 ?

    Help choosing an e-bike please

Please could you let us know where this incline is ? (just wanted to double check the gradient profile !) Or enter it in here and let us know https://wooshbikes.co.uk/clearway.php?cw=1181 How heavy are you - if you don't mind us asking ? It would take twice the power to get someone 20st up a...

I suspect either of those bikes would be fine (would have to know your weight and the gradient of those hills) but to try to answer your question to the best of my knowledge. 1) The peak power supplied by the Gran Camino controller is 20A * 36 V = 720w (I think you can actually adjust it within...

There this 48v ncm one on offer, there's a few people here with ncm bikes https://www.leoncycle.co.uk/NCM-Venice-Plus-Trekking-E-Bike I'm not convinced that it would be quite as good up hills as the 36v x 20A controller gran Camino, and it's a bit heavier (only relevant when you aren't riding...

if you weren't doing heavy duty moutain biking and the only reason you wanted mid drive was hill climbing ability then I would be tempted by https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?gran-camino Much more generic Chinese technology , easier to fix out of warranty and Woosh have excellent customer service...

Any new (radical) commercial developments in 2024-2025 and onwards?

If manufacturer's were scrupuously honest in their ratings and stuck to the spirit of the law wouldn't most of the "legal" pedelecs and kits sold really be LIe-A ? i.e. most motors could run continuously at > 250W without overheating. I remember that , my friends mum had one - that's the sort...

Any new (radical) commercial developments in 2024-2025 and onwards?

Interesting to speculate where new technology may come in by market segments (some of these overlap !) 1) Commuter e-Bikes - there seems plenty available, good value budget bikes or slightly more luxurious , more expensive 2) E moutain bikes - lots of choice, gradually getting more...
