Can and should you ride an e-bike without a battery?

I to have a Bosch crank drive and am only riding under power for about15-20% of the time. Some rides usually upto about 20miles I don't turn it on atall. Yes it's harder to pedal than a normal bike but it's nice to know the powers there just incase ;)

    Converting cadmium powered battery

Is it one of these ? If yes then you have loads of space for batterys. If it was mine, I'd stick some Hobbyking lipo's in there:cool: but you'd need to be confident using RC lipos and the potential pitfalls of improper handling

    Look what the postman brought..

LP I've used and destroyed those DRL's not bright enough to see by, ok as an aid to being seen if you've plenty of batterys  I only got a few hrs use from the 4 button cells my two lights required. Connected directly to a single 18650 they ran for many hours but eventually the led's...

Hi all. Just joined the e-bike industry in a sales and maintenance capacity

I'm happy with the way my cube reaction hybrid looks (2014) It's not trying to hide its electrickery and its cool about it :p:cool:

Cheap full suspension brand new electric bikes spied on Fleabay

Cheap being the operative word here. The basic bike costs £99 or less from sports direct, I'd question the £400 value on the electronics because who'd fit quality parts on a sub£100 bike. I can't remember the whole saying but it starts "a fool & his money" ;) Or is that "all that glitters" :p

    Look what the postman brought..

An asymmetric lens and one 18650 I use a 4 cell pack wired in parallel as my day light, I don't know exactly how long they last untill flat as after 10 ish hours I'll check the voltage, if it's less than 3.6v I'll stick a new one in and charge the one I've just taken out. Taken just now in the...

    Look what the postman brought..

It's all in the reflector :( I have several cheep lights but on two of them only the housing & emitter remain original. I've replaced the driver with one that works directly from 3.7v (18650 cells) and instead of the reflector I've used an asymmetric lens, they light up evenly with absolutely no...

    Look what the postman brought..

Smugly I'm still using the 18650 cells I brought back in 2014, 2 X Samsung 2200mah cells for 99p and I brought enough to keep me going for a while. At that time the seller had loads and back then I told everyone with a link to the seller, but how many had the foresight to buy :p ;)

    Stolen batteries

I've known car windows smashed for the sake of a newspaper left on the dash ! So a quick kick with the flat of a foot is enough to rip the rivnuts out of a frame, it's no trouble to the thief and they might have done it for no reason, just because they can  sorry for your loss :(

    Need some new handle bars

I really don't know what clamp is on your bike but assuming it quite modern, yes there's enough clamping force to keep everything where it should be. Back in da olden days, handlebars were slipy shiny chrome and only held by a small single bolt clamp & straight knurling was vital ! installed...

    Need some new handle bars

I can recomend the NC-17 bars having used the 31.2mm version for over 1000 miles , in fact I've just swaped back to my 3" rise dirt jump bars but that's because my back/disc problem has slightly improved, allowing me to lean forwards a bit more ;)...

    Nothing special. Just getting wet.

Just getting wet you say  I was out yesterday afternoon in one of those thunderstorms. Quite country lanes10 miles into my ride, the short way back was 8 miles & no shelter  the roads had turned into rivers, hail bouncing off my helmet and the rear pockets of my water proof jacket...

    Bottle holder on bike

I brought one of those dv8eh. I hated it, plastic to hard ( no "spring" to hold bottle securely) Holds bottle a long way off the frame The clamp needs to be very tight to stop it twisting, has the potential to damage your paint/frame. Like LP I use cable ties and love there simplicity  I...

What David said ;) No but really, what it means is I can cycle beyond my body's limitations, be it steeper hills, longer rides, rougher terrain or all three together :)

    B'TWIN Tyres feedback

Has anyone used b'twin tyres, especially the B'TWIN City 5 Protect Hybrid Bike Tyre - 700x45. These would be for my human only bike. I have 700x38 at the moment and would like to take some of the buzz out of the trails I like to ride, partly hardpack dirt & gravel. 45c is probably the biggest I...
