Pedelecs - Read Terms and Conditions of Warranty

... and so you should. A warranty should attach to a product and not be a personal thing. After all, if you go into Tesco with a faulty radio and the receipt they are not going to deny you an exchange if you don't have the card originally used for purchase are they ? Similarly, a car with a...

Winter Draw(er)s on! bargains from Muddy fox at Sports Direct

Looking on the bright side, if you go flying and rip it you won't bother too much about it ! Still smarting from the tarmac ripping right through the elbow of a £200 Paramo top I was wearing last time I took a tumble. It hurt a darned site more than the fall !

Good grief ..... to help denwyn show willing can anybody say if a throttle could be fitted to this bike ? It's the obvious thing to do.

Hello all newbie here in S.E London needing some good honest sound advice

I ran my kit with the battery in a Topeak MTX bag at the start. It worked fine, looks good and is very discreet. Those bags are very good quality and stand up to a great deal of punishment. The QR and track work really well and I fitted those racks on both bikes. The only downsides of using...

    Expensive mistake

denwyn, have you tried the throttle start ? The throttle should take away any unsteadiness and you can at least test it using the bike you have. The operation will be similar on any bike with a throttle. I'm still a bit unsure to be honest - is it that when you come to a stop you feel that...

What do you think of these components for e-bike?

What tyre do you have ? The 26" rims BMS sell are marked as x 1.5 but I've fitted 2.1 tyre on them no problem. I expect will be similar story with the 28" ones. Else you can always swap out the motor to a different rim or buy some different tyres.

Once bitten twice shy. Go to a show. Try a load of them. Then you'll have your answer. A proper mail order company like Wiggle will let you return a bike if it's not right so long as it's in 'as new' condition. Even if wrong size for you etc. You can't take that as your "fault" when you haven't...

Cheapest gents bosch centre drive bike?

Good point Rob. Isn't OP after a commuter bike wearing backpack option though, so may be fine for that. It's also stealthier than a frame-mounted battery with empty double panniers covering the battery (for example) - The Bosch battery is only about 2 1/2kg, right ? For heavy loads on the...

That's a bargain as Bosch bikes go and at least you have an 8sp hub.

    Expensive mistake

I used to think that too ... until I got used to riding with one. Now I'm inclined to think the complex PAS-throttles are in a way an unnecessary complication in that they are so sensitive to pedal torque and gear selection. A throttle can be used to vary assistance according to how you want it...

AM bikes often have even higher cranks. I'm not sure how much you want to spend denwyn but something like the Kalkhoff Sahel is pretty much spot on what I reckon would be ideal for you. I tried one at the Eden show and set against my Agattu (Dutch bike) it was like a hatchback beside an Estate...

    Expensive mistake

Got to be fair here, it depends a bit where denwyn wants to ride his bike. In town, where you are stopping on a regular basis, it is a lot easier getting a bike with a slightly lower crank (perhaps a 26" bike with the handlebars adjusted for comfort if needs be) and a more compact design. The...

Cheapest gents bosch centre drive bike?

Yes I was referring to Bosch on the ratings of the motor ... S-Pedelecs are fitted with a 350W version whereas regular ones are fitted with a 250W version. Whether that's on account of how the controller manages power or the motor is actually different doesn't seem to be widely discussed. They...
