Yeah you're best off not riding clipped in on both sides on downhills in those conditions ! I'd definitely unclip for that, possibly on both sides. Set them on their loosest position too until the cleats wear in a bit and use loads of WD40 on the spring or they'll rust up in no time ! I hope...
