    Brexit, for once some facts.

Getting some peat before it is finally banned? (Anyone remember all sorts of "Stop peat digging" things back in the early 1970s? Seems they always manage to proclaim things no longer contain peat in big letters, in advertising. But never mention when they revert to peat.)

I'm confused by mine which seems to include the electricity standing charge on the amount used, but not the gas standing charge. (The confusion being why on earth it should be like that - I understand what it is showing.)

Is she sure that's not the daily standing charge?

If only they were unable to charge for what it is not reporting. I assume that, despite not displaying, it is sending data to EDF?

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

The EU has! When will speed limiters be mandatory? From 6 July 2022, all new cars will need to have a speed limiter device fitted. https://www.confused.com/car-insurance/guides/speed-limiters-mandatory-on-new-cars Though I am failry happy that drivers should be encouraged to drive within...

And our choice to use mobile phone connections means that the meters will require upgrading to 4G/5G as 2G/3G gets removed. Just hope they get it done before we go on to 6G...

I see the City fired a warning shot about that - suggesting the economy will slump further if she does do that to BoE.

I see Truss is as trussworthy as the lame duck: Liz Truss has refused to commit to appointing an ethics adviser if she became prime minister, saying she has “always acted with integrity”. If you check her definition of integrity, I think we have a mis-match with what many of us mean: Between...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

If they told me it would benefit the country, I'd be happy to run my washing machine at almost any time. And my oven use is also very flexible (but not overnight). Those are the biggest electricity uses I have. They just have to tell me and convince me what they are saying is true. They haven't...

All they do is tell you how much is being used - to varying degrees of accuracy - and over varying periods (hours/days/weeks/months). When you see a number it can be hard tracking down what is using the power. I was seeing something like 162W earlier and couldn't decide what was doing that. By...

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

I've noticed quite a few recently with a slightly 3D look to the characters. I'm sure many are intended to avoid ANPR. Strikes me that if ANPR (as in official rather than car park) can't make it out automatically, it should take a super-definition high-zoom photo for human interpretation...

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

Assuming MoT stations are checking plates, the owners must be switching plates before and after MoT, every year. Which pretty much proves such plates are premeditated acts. (Allowing that someone buying a secondhand car could inadvertently have illegal plates.) It's not the worst offence in the...

But if they had noticed it not working, it would have been a fail. And, if the design was such that the speedo were in its own housing, illumination of the speedo needs to work. There is no need for a road test therefore easy to not see a failed speedo. Especially those which have the needle...

I see the government is leading again with intelligence, sensitivity and logic: Energy use is a ‘decision for individuals’ insist No 10 and Truss allies Senior Tories rule out asking households to reduce energy use despite planning for winter blackouts Thus, if you are well-off, you will be...

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

It is those issues which are the problems. I have no problem having a 20mph limit in the same places where that applies to cars, or on shared use paths, etc. It is the need for some way of knowing your speed for it to be seen as fair and reasonable. I know I used to cycle to work along a road...

The product contains Gellan gum - some of which is produced from lactose which would undermine vegan credentials. Not clear whether they have ignored this, not realised it, or made sure the specific product they use is not made from lactose. Whatever they do right now, I'd not be at all...
