    Helmets in Aldi

Pining for the fiords? I had a Swedish army hat, very similar to that; wonderful winter headgear. Along with the Swedish army greatcoat, I looked like an escapee from some Cold War film set.

    Approved ebike list?

Indeed, the very idea of a non-back-pocket backhander is anathema. Why, before you know it, there will be politicians wondering where they will get their retirement sinecure and we can't have that now, can we? I'm reminded of the shambles that occurred in Ireland when compulsory MoT testing...

Probably a couple hard at it. :)

Decent shifting systems on crank drive pedelecs

I read a figure a few years ago that Ford and others reckoned it cost them a fiver per kilo to make a car - any car, any spec. Work that out for base cost and profitability. Of course, with Jaguar, Ford already knew and had known for decades that punters would pay a fair bit extra for the...

Car driver charged with manslaughter over London cyclist death

Hah. I've done jury service and seen plenty of juries in action. An experience that doesn't fill me with hope, at all. The problem with picking a jury from the ranks of the public, is that you get a lot of ill-informed, ill-educated, tabloid-reading, mouth-breathers amongst them. Usually...

    What's your protection against cold?

Oh, they'll work fine as the principle has been proved for years on motorcyles, with brush guards on the bars. Not as good as full muffs, but effective enough at lower speeds.

    Cardboard helmets?

They're missing a trick, there. If the helmet and bicycle were made of pasta, you could eat them if stranded out in the boonies. Cardboard, not so much.

    Cheeky young blighter!

The High-Speed burger van had me laughing like a drain, just like him.

The 1100/1300 had a slightly disconcerting tendency to float when the road undulations were just right. No big deal and it was easy to get used to the 'nyoing, nyoing' of it. Iirc, the Princess had Hydragas, which was fine on a larger car.

    Better gloves or bar mitts??

If I were commuting in this weather I'd seriously consider a set of bar muffs, or brush guards at the very minimum, to take the wind blast off the fingers. They make one helluva difference.

    Approved ebike list?

Typical of you. Keep going, please. You're just making me laugh my socks off, envisioning you frothing at the mouth as you type off your latest 'witty' retort. If you had a pen you'd be writing in green ink.

    Approved ebike list?

I've already told you - your opinion counts for nothing, but you can't seem to get your head around that. Just you carry on with your self-righteous, holier-than-thou hypocrisy and I'll carry on with my way. Sheesh, it's just so easy to wind you up - you really should develop a thicker skin...

    Approved ebike list?

I sincerely hope that if it turns out to be illegal, you destroy it immediately. Anything else would be sheer hypocrisy and you wouldn't want to be accused of that now, would you?

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

A lesser wrong in the pursuit of a greater right is always allowable, in my opinion. As for your opinions; well, they're water off a duck's back.

I see Ravi Shankar popped his clogs, too. Pity the two of them never got together, for the rubber-suspended sitar would truly have been a major breakthrough in musical engineering.

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

Exactly. It's the same bunch of whinging old women, as usual. Cwah should temporarily strip the e-gubbins off and pursue the driver through the courts - there's nobody knows it was an electric bike, far less an 'illegal' one. <two fingers up to the grannies and schoolmarms>

Car driver charged with manslaughter over London cyclist death

Hah; exactly the same happened to me, going up the M1 near Hemel, when a guy in the outside lane decided he really wanted my space in the middle one. Unluckily for him a plain cop car was just two or three behind him and saw it clearly. I didn't bother hanging around as I wanted to go home, but...
